ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is collecting cold-weather items for survivors of Tropical Storm Helene, as temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s in the coming weeks. The department is asking for donations such as coats, blankets, gloves or mittens, and hand warmers.

Donations can be dropped off at several locations across the area, including 1298 Patton Avenue in West Asheville, the Presbyterian Church at 2215 Hendersonville Road in Asheville, and Harrah’s Cherokee Center at 87 Haywood Street, where items can be dropped at the front door between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Another drop-off location is available at 6 Commerce Way in Arden.

The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging the community to help ensure that those affected by Helene have the necessary supplies to stay warm as the weather gets colder.

The drive comes as local authorities continue to assist those displaced...

“Here’s How to Help”

...because Biden/Harris are busy doing other things.

Seems Mother Nature is on the side of the DEMs in recent weeks.

Yep supposed to be 37 two nights in a row Tues/Wed this week and we are a bit further south and lower altitude.

It gets cold so fast in the mountains when the sun sets.

I bought 4 fleece camp blankets from the Cajun Navy 2016 Amazon list and sent to them in Morgantown … it’s going to take TWO WEEEKS for them to be delivered.

Instant homes?

I am watching the erection of a building in our county seat that brought in precast slabs of concrete that bolts together. Amazing suff.

This is a bad time of the year to be homeless. They do need our help. From Katrina a lot of them went GTT (Gone to Texas). I have family in Wilmington, that told me those people who live in the mountains are very tough people. I believe her.

God Bless them All.

It’ll still count in two weeks. Been telling folks - I’ve never experienced having absolutely nothing. I hear some power is being restored and drinking water should be boiled.

If you like to read apocalyptic type books like “One Second After”, etc., then you are watching a sample of that playing out in North Carolina.

People living way up in the mountains are cut off, if it hasn’t already started happening you will start to hear about people turning on each other for food and supplies, especially not that it’s getting cold.

Someone needs to buy up a bunch of that dried survival food and make some air drops. Water purification would help too. They need wells drilled. Instead of fighting each other they need to get together and build some shelters

They got those storage buildings Home Depot, etc sell. The hip roof ones can be made into two floors.
Takes about three days to insulate and drywall them and put electric in.

That and camper trailers.

But, to get them back into those places.

I dunno how much a Chinook will carry but...

What makes my blood boil is that the media is no longer interested in North Carolina and the white American citizens who are suffering in the mountain towns with no food and water and no roof over their heads.

Everything now is focused on Florida. The Weather Channel is especially disgusting. They’re interviewing the “poor” folks on the barrier islands and the rich, ex-Northerners who have retired to live well in Florida. I saw an interview with one of these residents who was sitting by his swimming pool. His cat was lying comfortably near it and purring as he stroked it.

You know what his complaint was? His cat has now been through three hurricanes and is suffering from PTSD and other “emotional” issues. He wants someone to re-locate the cat until it recovers! I’d like to grab the guy and say, “Hey, you moron, if you don’t want to have to rebuild for the third time, move to another state and stop soaking the insurance companies and my premiums to pay for your stupidity! And I don’t give a damn about you or your traumatized kitty.”

Why don’t the Weather Channel jerks ever ask these privileged slobs why they don’t leave? MY concern is not for them; my concern is for the folks in the hills of Appalachia who are facing freezing weather now and who are trying to survive with whatever they can scrouge from their few possessions. I saw an interview with one despairing elderly man who is living in a flimsy tent he put together out of a plastic tarp. His house is in ruins.

These people are the hillbillies J.D. Vance wrote about. Nobody ever gives a damn about them. Certainly not the nitwit Democrat governor or Kamala.
