Police in California say thieves surrounded Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler last month and stole a pricey watch off his wrist
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Thieves surrounded Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler last month outside a horse racing track in a Los Angeles suburb and slipped an expensive watch off his wrist as he jostled through the crowd, police said Tuesday. It came weeks after another professional athlete in California was the victim of a brazen mugging.
Buehler was not threatened during the theft Sept. 28 at the Santa Anita Park horse racing track in Arcadia, police there said. They are investigating two similar episodes the same day that officials say were by organized groups who steal high-end watches in large crowds during events.
Buehler was at the track that day with his wife, McKenzie, and his teammate, starting pitcher Jack Flaherty, to attend the inaugural California Crown races. Buehler, a Lexington, Kentucky, native, is a major fan of the sport.
While walking from the paddock to his seat, Buehler was “unknowingly the victim of a snatch and grab robbery of his watch," his agency, Excel Sports Management, said in a statement.
“We are grateful Walker and McKenzie were not harmed and Walker is focused on the playoffs,” the agency said.
The Dodgers declined to comment and referred media to the Arcadia police.

Buehler?.........................
Sucka.
It better be accurate to the second.
Anyone who wears a $100,000 watch in public, in LOS ANGELES (or near LA, in this case), deserves to have it ‘repossessed’. The OBVIOUS thing to do is get a knock-off when in a big crowd of strangers and leave the expensive one at home...hmmm...come to think of it, that won’t work in California either, maybe bury it in the desert?
Nothing excuses thievery, and to each his own, but...personally, I think walking around with $100k on your wrist is kind of disgusting.
That’s why I like my $25 watch.
He makes eight million dollars a year. He probably does not look at money the way you and I do, considering how much he makes.
$100,000 seems like a lot to pay for a watch but to him. Maybe that amount is pocket change. Maybe it was an impulse purchase.
No, no one deserves it. Meaning if you own really nice things and want to use them, you deserve to have them stolen. What the heck is wrong with you.
If anyone “deserves” to have their things stolen, its the thieves. Thats actual justice.
Air heads deserve it, and anyone in California who wears a $100,000 watch deserves it.
Well at least the Dodgers won't have to worry about going to Philadelphia.
I haven’t worn a watch since smart phones started telling time.
Same for me.
If I had a billion dollars I wouldn’t buy a $ 100,000 watch . In fact , I don’t wear a watch ; there are clocks everywhere nowadays !
You’re starting to sound like the left. Airheads deserve to have their stuff stolen? People with money deserve to have their stuff stolen? You have the makings of a good Marxist. Maybe you can get a job replacing that Kansas professor who just got placed on leave.
I have some Swiss watches and if I had the funds could easily see buying a 100k watch. I simply love watches.
Check out this watch. Costs 1.2 Million and is a work of art. It has a repeater which sounds like Big Ben.
Simply amazing piece of machinery. The typical automatic watch has around 200 parts. This one has 1100.

I can’t muster much sympathy for anyone who wears a $100,000 piece of jewelry in a crowded place.
“You’re starting to sound like the left. Airheads deserve to have their stuff stolen?”
He likely had insurance too, if not, he’s even more of an airhead. Hopefully he learns his lesson.
My Dad...a child of the depression...worked damn hard and,as a result, was quite successful. However, even after achieving that success he always wore Timex watches and drove Oldsmobiles despite being able to afford something more expensive.
If I could afford it I *might* buy a $1.2 million house or condo. But a watch? No thanks! I have a $200 Seiko watch for “dress up” and a $30 Casio digital watch for every day.
