Mike Johnson, the speaker of the House, got tripped up this weekend by a question that should not have fazed a high-schooler with a moderate degree of civic awareness: Who won the 2020 election?
Johnson and other Republicans say the question is a trap. But it’s one they have set for themselves.
When George Stephanopoulos asked Johnson on “This Week” to acknowledge that Joe Biden had won the election and Donald Trump lost it, Johnson complained that the ABC anchor was playing “a gotcha game.” He went on, “You want us to litigate things that happened four years ago when we’re talking about the future.” Sen. JD Vance (Ohio) had used the same dodge a few days earlier, during the vice-presidential debate.
On a second pass, Johnson said, “Joe Biden has been the president for four years. There’s not a question about this, okay?” He added 185 words on all the topics this exchange was keeping him from addressing. At no point did he say that Trump lost or Biden won.
What’s absurd is not the question but the fact that it has to be asked. All Johnson had to do to be able to move on to the topics he prefers was tell the truth, which can be done succinctly: Biden won. (He could have added an “unfortunately.”)
One reason the 2020 question keeps getting asked is that Trump himself won’t drop the subject. He recently claimed he won Michigan in 2020. He did not. A few weeks ago, he even said that only fraud had kept him from winning California.

The Dim media who told us that Biden got 81 million votes and to vote for him again in 2024, is the same Dim media who tells us that Kamala is electable even though she can’t even win the Dim primary.
Just say that BiXiden was duly selected and leave it at that.

When the corrupt MSM starts doing deep investigations into these matters, rather than writing some stupid AI article simply proclaiming, “It’s false, because we say it’s false,” then we can have a meaningful discussion. How come Ramesh and his corrupt buddies never circle back and ask Hillary or Stacey Abrams about “stolen elections”. Heck, Hillary still says 2016 was stolen, but not a peep, and no interest.

Bullshit. It was a stolen election and everybody knows it. And this so-called conservative rider is from national review, national affairs, The American enterprise Institute that gives out its annual bill Kristol award, and the Washington post. So here we are four weeks before the election, and he thinks it’s important for everybody to run out and genuflect to the Democrat agenda and pretend the election wasn’t stolen.

The correct answer to this question should be: “Do you really believe that Joe Biden got 20% more votes in 2020 than Hillary Clinton got in 2016”?
It’s true, republicans are so clumsy. The answer is, when the electoral college votes were certified by Congress, Biden became the president. Did he win the most votes of the people? We’ll never know for sure. Was the election honest and above board? We’ll never know that for sure either. So what’s your point?
