A new national poll has Kamala Harris 16 points ahead of Donald Trump among Independents, a key demographic to deciding the next president.
The poll was conducted by TIPP Insights for Issue & Insights between October 2 and October 4. It surveyed 997 voters and had a margin of error of +/- 3.2 percent. Of respondents, 49 percent said they would vote for Harris and 46 percent said they would vote for Trump.
But among Independents, Democratic presidential candidate Harris received 52 percent of the vote, Republican candidate Trump received 36 percent, 10 percent were not sure, and 2 percent said they would vote for somebody else.
Independents are a critical voting block for both Vice President Harris and former president Trump to win over ahead of the November election, which is likely to be determined by close votes in just a handful of key battleground states. Small swings in independent voters could determine whether these states are won by either candidate.
Four years ago in October 2020, a month out from the election, Joe Biden led Trump among independents by a similar margin to Harris's current lead with independents, and went on to win the election.

Gawd, i’m old enough to remember when we actually believed the polls.
They have to keep the morale up among the Democrats. Everyone can sense the Harris campaign is reeling and that Trump is the one with all of the momentum.
I’m old enough to remember when we trusted elections and we woke up knowing who won. Well, maybe except Nixon-Kennedy.
“It surveyed 997 voters”
Registered? Likely?? Illegal?
“When asked about specific issues, Trump led on “improving national security” (Trump 50 percent, Harris 45 percent), “lowering the national debt” (Trump 46 percent, Harris 44 percent), “growing the economy” (Trump 49 percent, Harris 48 percent), “securing the border” (Trump 54 percent, Harris 41 percent), “reducing crime” (Trump 48 percent, Harris 46 percent), and “implementing a strong foreign policy” (Trump 50 percent, Harris 46 percent).
Trump and Harris tied on two issues: “cutting spending,” on 46 percent, and “cutting inflation,” on 47 percent. But Harris leads on just two issues, “ensuring energy security/energy independence” (Harris 48 percent, Trump 47 percent) and “reducing taxes” (Harris 48 percent, Trump 45 percent).”
So President Trump leads on issues 6 to 2 and the only two horizontal harris leads on, the margins are slim. Yet we are to believe her overall lead with this group is 16 pts?
Oh puh-LEEZE!
what kind of retard says that Harris will lower taxes more than Trump?
Yep, the good old days, indeed.
Now it takes days.
Thought this had to be the Bee ... nope, Lyin NewsWEAK.
Nope. Not buying it.
“New Yahoo News/YouGov poll: Trump-Harris race tightens after Vance debate ‘win’”
https://www.yahoo.com/news/new-yahoo-newsyougov-poll-trump-harris-race-tightens-after-vance-debate-win-120026568.html
From the story: “But now Harris (48%) edges Trump (46%) by just two points. The new poll of 1,714 U.S. adults, which was conducted from Oct. 2 to 4, finds Harris with an even smaller advantage among registered voters when third-party candidates are included (46% to 45%). Among likely voters, the vice president’s lead vanishes entirely (47% to 47%).”
Likely voters (more reliable than just “registered voters”) - tied. And that’s not taking into account the state-by-state electoral college state of the race.
By “independent”, they mean illegal aliens.
Remember...newsweak is in on the scam.
I heard in another poll Trump is getting 94 pct of the black women vote
Since we are just making Sh-t up
“They have to keep the morale up among the Democrats. Everyone can sense the Harris campaign is reeling and that Trump is the one with all of the momentum.”
Exactly right.
I believe it. TIPP is one of the most respected pollster. Also, Trump hate is rampant in this country, so not surprising.
That is utterly ridiculous. Misinformation.
Nope.
And my cat just got his PhD.
