The devastation that happened in western North Carolina hit close to home for me, so I have been relying less on the news for updates and more on private social media posts from those in the affected community where I grew up. These posts won’t hit the news, and I can’t link to them.
The Biden administration has all but ignored what has happened there, and if not for the immediate, helpful, and thoughtful response from former president Trump, who knows what kind of response might have come from Biden/Harris? Perhaps the same shrug of shoulders that Palestine, Ohio received?
The stories of these private posts remind me of who we are. People who have the resources and talents are tirelessly helping others locate loved ones, provide food and essentials, and dig out. People are willing to house families and farm animals in their own homes and farms that weren’t damaged, or were less damaged. Restaurants and stores are opening their doors to give out free food. Gyms are opening to the public to offer showers. Mule teams are being assembled to traverse areas inaccessible to vehicles.
We saw similar generosity of spirit after 9-11, but that horrendous act of violence was isolated to a small area of New York City and the sites of the other two crashes. It didn’t affect thousands of people spread across thousands of square miles, so the community response was different. This Carolina community stepped up to a much more complex and diverse challenge, but the true human spirit remains the same: one of courage and personal sacrifice to aid others in need.
Perhaps that’s why the Biden administration suddenly decided to step in with financial aid for “food, water, baby formula, and other emergency supplies. Funds may also be available to repair storm-related

Welcome to the club, North Carolina. I’m an American white straight male. I have been consigned to the you don’t get shit from the gubmint club for years.
I guarantee you any haltering or hesitation by the Biden/Harris regime on putting federal resources to the problem beyond a bare minimum FEMA show up was due to them assessing how this would affect the election in November. Are there more in affected areas who could be voting for Trump - or Harris. Could it affect how NC votes?
Seems rather pointless now with this whopping $750 payment to victims. They’ve already blown the money on $5K visas for illegals, rent money for hotels, new clothes, etc. Not to mention the billions to UKR and elsewhere.
That should be East Palestine, Ohio, which is near the Pennsylvania border. Palestine, Ohio, is at the other end of the state near the Indiana state line.
I have not heard anything from that area, don't know what's going on...
Thanks for the article correction.
I will come back to this thread to post an in-depth report re my visit to western NC to deliver aid. What and who I saw, and what and who I didn’t.

Sounds like a good T-Shirt slogan........
If your guv is targeting you with weapons from the sky, there may be nothing that will save you.
Thanks, will appreciate it. I am hopeful that it is just isolated mistakes and not something larger.

Nascar driver Greg Biffle who happens to own his own helicopter is on day 7
It started out with a few helos, then a dozen, then 20, then 30 - ALL PRIVATE. Companies gifted supplies and citizens volunteered to distribute them.
A week later, fema & red cross take to scolding citizens and suddenly NC Nat Guard is tweeting how awesome they are now that they finally started doing something.
People have been delivering supplies by horse, mule and even pack goats. Medicine, medical supplies, water, insulin and ice to keep it cold.
And I remember the buses in the parking lot...but drivers were Union and said..."Not in our Contract".
And they predicted a bazillion Cat 5s...from here on out. The next year...the season was a whimper of the year past.
Yes please. Charleston neigbors are on their way with a trailer filled with relief supplies for another private relief effort. Best wishes.
The government is the nemesis of good people.
FEMA and the Red Cross are the liars.
Western North Carolina is going to cost us a fortune. Don’t be fooled thinking otherwise.
