Garth Brooks accused of rape, sexual assault in lawsuit filed by his hair and makeup artist

Country music star Garth Brooks has been accused of raping and battering a woman who claims she worked as his hairstylist and makeup artist.

The lawsuit, filed in a California court on Thursday by a woman only referred to as “Jane Roe,” states the Grammy Award-winning singer allegedly raped her in a hotel room during a work trip where she felt “trapped” and alone with Brooks.

In addition to sexual assault and battery, Brooks, 62, is also accused of repeatedly exposing his genitals and buttocks; talking about sex and sharing sexual fantasies with Roe; regularly changing his clothing in front of her; and sending her sexually explicit text messages, according to the complaint in the case, obtained by CNN.

The suit alleges these incidents happened in 2019.

“We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,” attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen and Hayley Baker said in a statement to CNN.

“We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks. The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.”

The woman who filed the suit said she was first hired as a hair and makeup artist for Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, in 1999, but was moved to Brooks’ team in 2017, the suit states.

Not really. In fact, it wasn’t until his third album came out that I realized this was the same “Garth.” I couldn’t believe it. He isn’t a great singer. (But neither was Bob Dylan.) He is just OK on guitar. He hooked up with a good writer and he made big flamboyant shows. But people here in Oklahoma love Toby and Blake much more than Garth. Toby was just a normal guy. He hung out at local places around OKC and Norman and put off no airs. His death was a huge loss here. And Blake is the same. He has a restaurant and music hall in Tishomingo (where I lived back in the ‘90s) and he shows up there from time to time and puts on a show for those dining. Does it unannounced. And he shops at the local stores in Tishomingo and Madill. I have a lot of family down there and they see him all the time. Blake buys horses from my cousin and he sometimes just hangs out at her house. They are mega stars, but just good guys. Garth...not so much.

He’s put on some weight ... especially around his neck and face.

When I went to my officer's basic course at Ft. Knox in 1991, Brooks was hitting the big time from seemingly out of nowhere.

My roommate in the BOQ was convinced Brooks had sold his soul to the devil. I thought he was being a bit hyperbolic, and saying that figuratively, but he was insistent that Brooks' meteoric rise to stardom was quite literally the result of a demonic pact.

Over the decades since then stories have periodically come out about Brooks that have not done much to undermine my old roommate's hypothesis.

"She has been waiting for Bidenflation to ease. A major cash award looms."

You're probably right about that.

They're going after him now because he sang at the last Trump inauguration:

Oops, I misremembered. Garth Brooks was approached by Steve Wynn and ASKED to play at Trump’s inauguration, but he declined.

She is popular, but not like Toby or Blake. Reba doesn’t live here. She, like Garth live in Tennessee. Which is fine. But Toby lived in Norman and Blake lives in Tishomingo.

“No why?”

Because many of the performances on that show were further than ever from what was once considered country music.
