Pharmaceutical firm Pfizer is to cut more jobs at its Irish manufacturing facilities, as part of a global cost-cutting program.
It is understood that up to 210 jobs will go across its facilities in Grange Castle in Dublin, Ringaskiddy in Cork, and Newbridge in Kildare. […]
They are part of a $1.5 billion cost-cutting program announced by Pfizer in May.
This followed on from a larger, $3.5 billion cuts program which saw 100 jobs go at its Newbridge facility last year.
Pfizer employs around 5,000 people in Ireland across five locations. …

The CEO must be worried he is not going to meet his bonus goals.

Ireland has had a good long run on toll pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing. It’s time is up. Serious taxation policies that were preferential to setting up shop in Ireland have been outmatched in new facilities and efficiencies in other places, specifically Mumbai, India.
