That’s what they did to us after 9/11. Gave everybody a raise, then laid everybody off, then declared bankruptcy and broke the union contracts.

How about the LIVES of these longshoremen— that product is in jeopardy- and they should think twice about gouging the public for real. Damn Commies!

Their timing is poor, I’d take the offer and keep their jobs for now…
Their leverage may seem great at the moment but 70% of the afl-cio disappeared when they got similarly cocky.

Rest of us who produce food within the us can watch from the sidelines

yes, we have no bananas, we have no bananas today

perishable produce from SoAmerica, coffee, european goods

Christmas stuff and China imports will probably reroute thru SoCal ports same as when the west coast was on strike, stuff rerouted to Texas and the east coast ports

No more union labor…… anywhere. It is an unnecessary relic of the past that is not needed in this day and age. The rest of the country should not be held hostage. If the Dems are smart Biden will be instructed to fire them all after it starts hurting for people. That will actually make the Dems look good. They might be worried about union votes but it’s too small of a group to worry that much about.

IIRC, it wasn’t a shortage of food here when we had the lockdowns and shelves in grocery stores were empty - it was a shortage of packaging, which comes from China.

Two, five, eight, nine, and ten are the big ones. You can’t deliver things without trucks with no parts or gasoline or batteries for electric vehicles.

Seems to me one of the first things the Biden/Harris administration the did was curtail the petroleum industry by cancelling new drill sites and making us dependent on foreign oil and cutting back on local imports from Canada and Mexico.

Medical supplies and food are the next ones. And if more people knew about the teamsters and how they handle their business they would be shocked.

Just have every “Migrant” walking across the border carry a bag of Coffee and other essentials. Like a Toll.
Well just import it all through Meh-He-Co.
What could go wrong?

I also think Biden is in no hurry to do Heels Up Harris any favors after she ran a coup against him. He’ll just sit back, let them strike and let the public blame her for the shortages that result.

From the Daily Wire:

On Monday, the union rejected a last-minute offer from port ownership, represented by the United States Maritime Alliance, which offered the union a nearly 50% wage raise. The alliance also said it offered to triple employer contributions to employee retirement plans, better health care options, and to keep the current language around automation and semi-automation.

Not much of the US workforce is in a union. Only 6% and that is falling.

WOW, that sounds like a really sweet deal.

Just maybe the USMA made the offer KNOWING that 50% of the employees CAN be FIRED right after the deal is signed.

Does anybody know how many people get replaced when automation is used? For example, if original staff was 1000, does automation drop it to say 300-400?

Check out who controls the ports.

Psssst: In a lot of our major ports, it’s not Americans.

That’s the real threat.
