Socorro Comacho then went up to him and allegedly said, “You’re not a real Mexican if you play that music.”

Cesar Esquivel Estrada, 46, decided that was a killing offense.

If it was “La Bamba,” I can’t say I blame him.

I could almost sympathize with the murderer if the other person was about to play Feliz Navidad. /s (sort of)

Yeah, I’m on the fence on this one.

“So this is Christmas” by Lennon, or Eye of the Tiger, boom boom out go the lights.

What was the song? It might make a difference! If it was Vicki Carr or Linda Ronstadt, that is no excuse.

My Way killings

The "My Way" killings was a social phenomenon in the Philippines, referring to a number of fatal disputes which arose from the singing of the song "My Way", popularized by Frank Sinatra, in karaoke bars (more commonly known as "videoke" in the Philippines).

A New York Times article estimated the number of killings to be at least six as of 2010. Between 2002 and 2012, numerous people were killed for singing this song.

I know journalism is over. But what was the song? This might have been a justifiable homicide.

The singer Jose Feliciano is Puerto Rican, so playing his version of “Feliz Navidad” would indeed be a faux pas.

If it was “Loving You” or “You Light Up My Life” then he has a temporary insanity plea...
