CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND) - A woman was arrested for her sixth DUI offense after crashing in Charleston, police said.
Charleston Police were called to the 1100 block of West Polk Ave. Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. for a vehicle that had wrecked into a ditch and was possibly on fire.
Police arrested Tikisha Stewart and charged her with aggravated driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving with a revoked license, and possession of a controlled substance.
CPD said this is Stewart's sixth DUI offense between Illinois and Indiana. She does not have a valid driver's license. She also has an outstanding warrant for DUI from a 2008 case in Cook County, Illinois.
Due to Stewart's history of failing to appear in court and violating court orders, CPD placed Stewart in the Coles County Jail pending a detention hearing.
However, the judge determined the need for detention was not met, Charleston Police said. She was placed on electronic home confinement and special conditions set by the judge.
Soro’s DA?
Ridiculous.
Yogi: "Yes, Boo-Boo!"
They won’t be happy until she kills someone, and with the name Tikisha, they’ll be even happier if it’s a white family she takes out.
Piker! You don’t get this kind of kid-glove treatment in Wisconsin until you’re on your SEVENTH DUI. *SPIT*
Convicted Drunk Drivers, Child Molesters and Animal Abusers should get life in prison at a MINIMUM!
Well, if I had been named ‘Tikisha’ I’d get drunk a lot, too!..............
These drunk drivers are equal to a Toddler playing with a loaded handgun! Gawd!
Yeah, we’ve got BIGGER problems than this these days, but this is STILL a major problem!
It would be appropriate if on her next illegal, unlicensed, uninsured joy ride she ran head-on at a high rate of speed into a vehicle driven by this judge - and both were killed instantly.
It is all societies fault for not teaching her how to drive drunk.
When she kills someone it will be the fault of the victim because they were somewhere that her vehicle could strike them.
Why are you so upset about it? Everyone has driven drunk.
There is no reason to ruin her life over a simple mistake.
Always them.
Don’t look Ethel.

However, the judge determined the need for detention was not met,
So who exactly is the problem here? Miz Stewart, or the doofus "judge"?
Another ‘Canadian’, as we say in the Hospitality Business.
Ray Stevens, a national treasure for well over 50 years.
A friend of mine got 30 days in the same courtroom for driving without insurance. But that was 35 years ago.
I thought Canadians referred to people who came across the border.
Why is this an either/or proposition?
Both/and.
That would be the desirable outcome, but you and I know that the odds of that happening are slim to none.
I suspect you can chalk that up to a melanin deficiency.
