The wheel of a Boeing 737 fell off shortly after landing in Argentina in the scandal-scarred planemaker’s latest potential safety fail.
The Aerolineas Argentinas flight had just traveled from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires on Monday at 6 p.m. when a left-side rear wheel detached on the taxiway, according to the airline and photos.
“The aircraft…suffered a tire detachment after landing at Aeroparque and while traveling on the taxiway at low speed,” an airline rep told Newsflash Media.
The plane had two wheels on each landing gear, so nobody was hurt, the airline said.
“This detachment did not compromise the safety of the passengers or the aircraft at any time. The company’s technicians are analyzing the case to identify the origin of the fault,” the rep said.
The wheel appeared to detach from the main landing gear as the aircraft landed runway 13 at Jorge Newbery Airport, Aviation Source News reported.
It wasn’t immediately clear who was at fault for the safety snafu or how old the jet in question was. Boeing didn’t immediately return The Post’s request for comment Thursday.
Boeing has been plagued by a series of technical safety problems this year, beginning in January when a door plug blew out of an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max flight, terrifying passengers.
The company has also been dogged by whistleblower testimony and congressional investigations in recent months.

That’s nothing, I, personally have lost two wheels off two different B737s. The axles broke off on both.

The wheels are coming off Boeing.
Boeing guy calling CEO: “And that’s when the wheels came off.”
CEO: “Look, it’s early in the morning. Just drop the cliche sayings and report what happened down there.”
How does one differentiate between a manufacturing issue and a maintenance issue?
The wheel falling off has nothing to do with Boeing. It’s a maintenance issue. These people are despicable.
Isn’t this the responsibility of the airline maintenance department?
Dei = didn’t earn it.
Much more likely a maintenance issue than a manufacturing or design defect.
Subcontractor. Boeing outsources lots of parts. Heck, the wing assy for some B737’s are/were made in China.
Funny images...looks like the weight of the plane is being supported by a $5 Wal-Mart tote box. OK, I see the support under the center strut, but cmon, man!
That will make your day interesting
One has to be intelligent enough to know. Sorely lacking on most of these posts and the article in general..
or maintenance union employees.
dude.
how many 737’s do you have?
No need to panic, this is not unexpected or uncommon.
Hard to see how Boeing is responsible for a maintenance company forgetting to put the lug nuts back on after changing a tire.
LOL! Seriously this looks like maintenance, not design or manufacture.
