A Houston bankruptcy judge ruled on Tuesday that assets from the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s Infowars empire can be auctioned off to help pay families of the Sandy Hook mass shooting victims the defamation awards he owes them.
The auction, set for mid-November, will include Infowars’ website, social media accounts, broadcasting equipment, product trademarks and inventory owned by Free Speech Systems, Infowars’ parent company.
Mr. Jones’s fate as a broadcaster most likely depends on who buys his business. Though the Infowars name and assets are potentially of interest to a range of entities on the far right, under the terms of the sale anyone can bid.

Jones is an ass for what he said- but why can’t MAGA drop a class action suit against the networks for all the defamation against us and the constant allegations that we are “nazi’s” based on this ruling?

Even though he was a screamer and did have some whacky ideas at times IMHO, InfoWars DID actually report new news which others failed to report on.
InfoWars did have some original and first hand content, and was willing to put ideas out there that were contentious (may you agree or disagree).
Peoples feelings on a given position should not matter. If that were the case, then Micheal Moore should have been shut down years ago, so should Jane Fonda and many others that said and even did FAR worse.
I can’t imagine that name would have all that much value unless Jones’ is still affiliated with it.

Not these days. He’s the brand and can just spin up another web site, set up a podcasting room in a spare bedroom and be right back in business under another name. The merchandise and other stuff might take a bit more work.

granted the relatives are entitled to some damages, but this latest trend of levying a billion???? or even tens of millions is so way out of line as far as punishment fitting the crime. Somebody has got to get a handle on this runaway train. It’s just not right.
So true. The gleeful rub here is that if the SH families want 100mm in damages but the auction only brings in 20mm, the SHFs are out of luck for the difference. They will have no recourse unless a judge orders AJs future income be garnished which I don’t think happened.
Still, IMHO the SHFs are getting far more $$ than the comments made by AJ are worth.

Agreed......and you can blame civil litigation lawyers that are out to line their own pockets.
No, it's not. It's defamation on the part of Alex Jones. Even though he's broke ground on many subjects, I would sue the crap out of him. He was an idiot for defaming those families. I find it hard to believe a person as intelligent as he is would do something so stupid. In doing so, he made all of us look stupid.
