We all have our go-to grocery store for everyday needs, and America has spoken about its all-time favorite of 2024.
Each year, USA Today releases its 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for various categories, including the best grocery stores in the U.S. Nominations are made by a panel of experts, and the 10Best editors select the finalists. Readers then get a chance to vote for their favorites, and this year, it may surprise you which grocer came in the lead.
Best Grocery Store in the U.S. in 2024 Hy-Vee was voted the top grocery store in America in 2024 by USA Today readers. This employee-owned chain is predominately found in the Midwest with over 280 stores, but it is best known for providing "a helpful smile in every aisle.”
According to USA Today, the store “works with farmers to provide locally grown fruits and vegetables, and many of the locations offer food counters with colossal salad bars and items like meatloaf, Asian food, pizza, and fried chicken,” which could be why this is such a popular choice among shoppers today.
While Hy-Vee took the top spot, here's a look at the full list.

Wegmans, hands down.
Nothing is close.
I'm glad you mentioned this. One of the things I love about this place and one my favorite things to say to the cashier is "Thank you for the Brahms." or the like. Blank stares ensue, but at least it's not muzak and it's not "Hits from the 80's".
And Wegmans prices are great.
I remember the days when we had to tell people that: paragraphs are our friends.
With this list, I would like to add: commas are our friends. Please.
Trader Joe's has always been "more expensive".
Woodman’s is great.
Or as O’Muslim said, “Arugula sure is expensive.”
I like Publix.
I don’t understand why people like Aldis. I went there once and it reminded me of the Dollar Store.
I’ll second that. Wegmans is on another level of greatness. It would seem odd, but going to Wegmans when I’m back home visiting up North is a must.
I asked a guy at Menard’s where the nut rollers where located at. He looked at me like “WTF”. The look on his face was just too funny.
Wegman’s is kick ass! The greatest grocery store in the country.
HEB is the correct answer.
Never heard of the one that one.
Love HEB for almost 50 years.
Absolutely correct.
Got a ton of herbs to add to my garden last week.
HEB was the only grocery store I knew growing up
Same here.
There are none in NH :(
Buc-ees is a category of one. Cause nothing compares to it, period.
On our way to Iowa, we stopped at the one on Fort Worth and loaded up.
No other bathrooms compare.

We love Woodmans.
Great coffee aisle.

We have a “Natural Grocers” in CDA, too. I go there mainly to buy good bread flour. Other than that, nothing special. I think the CDA store has been here over 50 years.
We have a great little health food shop in Hayden called “The Flour Mill.” They have a good selection of wheat bread flours and an unbranded, high-protein “strong” flour that makes great bread.
Earlier this year, I met a woman there buying lots of whole grains. I mean tens of pounds. I asked her if she was baking for a big family and she told me she was making chicken feed for her chickens! She must get some great tasting eggs.
Didn’t know there was a Lowe’s Foods.
