I am eternally grateful that my daughter is a brown eyed brunette with very olive skin. When she was there for her semester abroad, they thought she was half black, so they didn’t bother her. I was never as anxious before or after those 6 months. So much hell, and I never want to go through that again.
There was another time when she was stranded in India during a monsoon and trying to get back to the US. That was the other time I was super worried, but that was only 10 days, not 6 months. She was a few years older and wiser at that point.
I feel for this girl’s parents. How awful.
A lot of young White girls of her age are profoundly naive about the realities of the world and some of the animals which inhabit it.
It reminds me this killing of two Scandinavian girls in 2018 in Morocco.
Or this killing of bicyclists in Tajikistan.

I know, right? It’s incomprehensible to me her family would have supported that part of her education.
Stories like this are why I won’t go outside of the US. Euros are very carefree with their travel, but they are confined in a way we aren’t here in the US, for now.
At least in the US, I can carry in a majority of the landmass. I don’t feel like you have any control over your safety outside of the US.

Have missionary friends(white) that work exclusively with Blacks. Their trust in the Lord doesn’t mean his family doesn’t abide by strict rules of when, how, and where to travel.
