Right after the jet starts down the runway, a huge chunk of asphalt lifts up from the ground and blows away.................

...the failure happened in a repaired portion. The original runway is concrete and the patched portion was just blacktop asphalt.

Despite consistently failing, you'll still find contractors who insist you can pave over concrete. No. Just no. It has a different modulus of elasticity, regardless of what the salesman insists.

I don’t remember my aerodynamics from school in 1963, but I believe the main thrust from a jet engine pushes against the engine mounts.
