All of them have won gold or higher awards or scored more than 90 points in at least five international spirit competitions over the last decade. Each is worthy of the Tequila Hall of Fame, and each is a candidate for World’s Best Blanco Tequila. Lui Fernandes has podcasts about tequila reviews on YT. He goes to the distilleries and checks them out. Some tequilas are not 100% agave but is cut with sugar. others have additives. He is down on most celebrity and rock star tequilas because they are cheaply made but heavily advertised. Let the buyer beware.
I think i read decades ago that “gold” tquilas were that way from food coloring, not really a different type.
Any good info on gold?
Used to love Cuervo Gold, but it started tasting funny a while back.
In the late 70’s I learned I was allergic to tequila, it make me break out in handcuffs.
Gold tequilas are usually a blend of the new-made Blanco with one of the cask-aged expressions.
Since this article was about blanco, it implies that is the version favored by those that drink it straight and go for the taste?
