Singer John Legend has called on the residents of Springfield, Ohio, to accept thousands of illegal Haitian migrants into their communities, claiming former president Donald Trump lied about them eating pets.
Legend, who was born in Springfield, posted a video to his 15.8 million followers on Instagram saying Trump’s claims about the illegal migrants were false.
“So I think all of us need to have the same kind of grace that we would want our ancestors to have when they moved here,” Legend said.
“Springfield has had a large influx of Haitian immigrants who come to our city,” said the singer.
“Now, our city had been shrinking for decades. We didn’t have enough jobs. We didn’t have enough opportunity, so people left and went somewhere else.”
He also claimed the local economy had grown because of the Haitians.
“And during the same time, there has been upheaval and turmoil in Haiti,” Legend continued.
“The federal government granted visas and immigration status to a certain number of Haitian immigrants so they could come to our country legally,” he continued.
“There are plenty of reasons why this might be a challenge for my hometown,” the singer said.
“But the bottom line is these people came to Springfield because there were jobs for them and they were willing to work.”

Legend then compared the immigrants to others in U.S. history, like Poland, Italy, Ireland, and Germany – conveniently forgetting to mention that people from those countries came in legally.
“They commit less crime than native-born Americans, and they will assimilate and integrate in time, but it takes time,” he said.
“So I think all of us need to have the same kind of grace that we would want our ancestors to have when they moved here with our Haitian brothers and sisters,” he continued.
“Nobody’s eating cats,” he added.
“Nobody’s eating dogs.”
Legend concluded by saying, “love our neighbor as we love ourselves and treat strangers as though they might be Christ.”
He concluded by appealing to the Christian tradition to “love our neighbor as we love ourselves and treat strangers as though they might be Christ.”
Contrary to Legend’s claim that “nobody is eating cats,” residents in Springfield have reported that the Haitian immigrants are eating pets and killing animals in broad daylight.
Great, how many of them is he taking in.

Ticker Guy had a great post on this and it is spot on.
Oh goody. Another rich entiled star deeming how us peasents should behave. Let him move to Haiti where they will appreciate his royal standing.
When was the last time Legend was in Haiti and saw what was happening there first hand, and yes they eat anything that moves including cats and dogs.
I wonder how they’d react in Malibu, CA if they were told 20,000 Haitian refuges were being relocated into their city.
“Shut up and Sing...”
His ancestors? How about that nice, sweet wife of yours bullying people on the internet, John? Shut up and sing you midget moron.
It would not be pretty.
What about Alf? He was definitely eating cats.
These Hatians will work for less money than Americans in the service sector. They will put native African Americans out of work.
And that should be pointed out to the black males - a lot.

Why do struggling small towns and poor urban cities have to bear the brunt? Send 20,000 to Legend’s neighborhood .
I hear they have other things in common as well.
I wonder if th FIBs will show up in a Ryder box truck soon......
The jughead needs to prove it.
The boy demands me to do something, I’ll bust his Beverly Hills mug.
