Were the cops justified in their take down of Tyreek Hill?
Proof? The police “visually estimated” his speed. Could not even write a speeding ticket because they did not clock him. Wrote a BS ticket that any decent lawyer can get tossed because the officer cannot testify that he knows exactly what speed he was doing.
I read 103 in a 55. Did I not see he rolled the window down then he rolled it back back up how did the cops know what he was doing in there? They didn’t know where he was going for a gun or not he’s lucky they didn’t just shoot him.
You bet they can write a speeding ticket without having him on the clock. If he’s passing cars at a high rate of speed, and given their training & judgement, good luck beating that in court. Besides, I don’t see any argument from him as far of his speed.
I watched that video too. I guess we didn’t see the same one. He should’ve gone straight to jail and he been held for arraignment and giving no special privilege just whatsoever he was doing 103 in a 55 zone. He thought he was an entitled individual. He rolled the window back up, I believe, and didn’t want to get out of the car. I don’t care if he was professional athlete I’d give him special privileges the rest of us. I don’t think so.
100%
Bullcrap. You blow around in town at 85 mph and think you cannot get a speeding ticket because the cop didn’t have a radar gun? or establish a controlled pace? They were extremely rare in the 1950s.
Cops gave plenty of speeding tickets without radar.
Look deeper in that Cracker Jack box where you found your law degree.
Nope... but it was posited that he was not a thug and was a respectable professional athlete. He was already well known to Miami PD.
His rights were violated big time if any of those cops were illegal aliens. They could barely speak intelligible English, I thought the video was in Mexico before I realized where this was.
i doubt it. Politeness doesn’t work with a group of people who are offended by anything that doesn’t match up with their massive sense of entitlementl
It was a traffic violation *until* he escalated the situation. He’s dopey, and given to being on the wrong end of police encounters. What’s your excuse?
Yep... I’m white and a nobody famous type. And I know exactly what would happen to me if I blew by 80 or 90, and then copped an attitude.
The cop told him several times to keep his window rolled down. He was ignored by Hill.
He’s all about being positive.
Yeah, punched his pregnant girlfriend in the face and threw her around like a ragdoll.
Then he faced two other paternity suits, and one assault suit over a broken leg, broke his three year old son’s arm.
Then he assaulted a worker at a marina in Miami.
Amen.
In what capacity did you serve those 25 years in law enforcement, was it spent in a high crime area or some place a bit more tame?
There is no way of knowing for sure that a simple polite request would have deescalated the situation.
The cop was a bit gruff in his manner but that is no excuse for non-compliance. The driver brought that upon himself. He was conducting a valid traffic stop of a speeding vehicle with windows that were heavily tinted. The driver rolled up the window, now their ability to communicate with the traffic violator, or see what he is doing inside the passenger compartment is hampered, causing an unsafe condition for the officers. The lead officer requested he roll the window down, what more is he supposed to do get down on his knees and plead?
Leftists are trying to neuter the police and turn them into warm and fuzzy punching bags, don’t fall for it.
Correct.
Yep! Same here.
The cop told him to keep the tinted window down, and he refused to put his window down. He refused a lawful order. Once that happens, and the cop has a right to lay hands on you, you have entered a gray area where anything can be seen as lawful, as everyone in the fight can argue they were in fear of their lives.
Also, you can go through life insisting you have a right to not be polite, and to treat other people like servants, but sooner or later you will run into people who will then insist you abide by all the rights they have, to slow you down and investigate you.
If people are naturally impolite enough that the behavior on that tape seems reasonable to them, and he doesn’t come off as an ass, and the whole decision to not let the cop see in his vehicle during the stop and roll his window down is lawful, they had better never speed and run into a cop.
There are just realities which come into play once you decide you do not need to be polite to others. He ran into them.
He was told to roll the window down and did not. The only deescalation the cop could have done would have been to allow the guy to disobey a lawful order.
Honestly, as a cop (I assume that is what you meant by “in law enforcement”) if someone treated you like that, and told you how the traffic stop was going, and that they were not going to roll down their window when you told them to, and began barking orders at you, you would not have tried at all to assert some control over where the stop was going?
