Iconic actor James Earl Jones has died aged 93.
The Field of Dreams and Lion King star and voice of Darth Vader passed away on September 9 at his home in Dutchess County, NY, his representatives confirmed to Deadline.
Jones made his screen debut as a bombardier in Stanley Kubrick's 1964 black-comedy masterpiece Dr. Strangelove - and forged an acclaimed Hollywood career.
He never appeared on screen when playing his most famous role, Darth Vader in the Star Wars films, as it was the former bodybuilder David Prowse who wore the iconic black suit.
His distinctive gravelly tones also saw him voice doomed lion Mufasa in the animated 1994 classic, The Lion King.
Jones is among an illustrious list of entertainers who achieved coveted EGOT status - winning two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards and being presented with the Honorary Academy Award.

RIP James Earl Jones
Conan : The riddle... of steel.
Thulsa Doom : Yes! You know what it is, don't you boy? Shall I tell you? It's the least I can do. Steel isn't strong, boy, flesh is stronger! Look around you. There, on the rocks; a beautiful girl. Come to me, my child...
[coaxes the girl to jump to her death]
Thulsa Doom : That is strength, boy! That is power! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it? Look at the strength in your body, the desire in your heart, I gave you this! Such a waste. Contemplate this on the tree of woe. Crucify him!
The actual voice of the Vader actor was very Scottish. It’s funny to hear him saying his lines.
I loved JEJ’s role in The Hunt For Red October!
JEJ appeared at our County Community College years ago to open a Joint City/College Library. I attended.
“His film debut came in 1964’s Dr. Strangelove as Lt. Lothar Zogg.” The movie that was delayed to alter the script after the Kennedy assassination. The main character was a composite character of General Edwin Walker and another. Oswald attempted to shoot Walker earlier in Dallas.
I liked him best in Cry,The Beloved Country...an absolutely outstanding film.
The voice of the devil in https://tubitv.com/movies/507867/the-pilgrim-s-progress sounds much like Jones. Go to 12:35

Someone tried to shoot Walker, I seriously doubt it was Oswald.
Here’s a link to a video from America’s Untold Stories . This video is the second of two that AUS has done on Walker .
Who was General Edwin Walker? Part Two: Lee Harvey Oswald and JFK
In “A Family Thing” (1996), James Earl Jones took a sensitive subject matter and with Robert Duvall, made it just a family thing, brother to brother.
