No, Churchill Did Not Instigate WWII Against Hitler
Providence Magazine ^ | 9/4/2024 | Miles Smith

Tucker Carlson recently had Darryl Cooper on his podcast to discuss history. The most prominent talking point of Cooper, a historian of sorts, was the ostensibly avoidable nature of the Second World War. It’s not a new thesis; there has always been an American polemic that the United States’ involvement in WWII was unnecessary and unwinnable. Charles Lindbergh and the 1930s America First movement did not think the United States’ involvement was inevitable. A long and often-times inconsistent tradition of Anglophobia convinced many Americans—Lindbergh being the most notable—that Great Britain was tricking the United States into a war it had no stake in. What makes Cooper interesting, and worrisome, is the way he sees Winston Churchill as a primary aggressor in the Second World War instead of the nakedly genocidal, tyrannical, and racist Führer of Germany, Adolf Hitler. Churchill’s warmongering—if one insists on calling it that—was in the defense of the conservative and even nationalist European system against Nazi imperialism.

What did Churchill do to the best known German who snuck to England to stop things before they started? Right, they locked him up and ignored him. The west wanted that war just like they want this war in Ukraine. It’s all the same players, and the same end goal. The Bible says how this ends, and how.

Churchill's main strategy for winning WWII was to get the United States into the fight.

One of Hitler's primary strategies to win WWII was to keep the United States out of the fight, at least until he had conquered Europe (and Russia).

Tucker! Read better books!

Hitler did a fine job starting WW2 all by his lonesome.

Another example of how hypocritical you are, Marcus.

While you (falsely) accuse the Russians of targeting or, at least, not minimizing civilian causalities, Churchill absolutely no regard for the lives of civilians. And, I doubt he would have denied that.

Yes. But, he was honoring his treaty with the Japanese. At the time, his submarine force commander told him, essentially, "It doesn't really matter. The USA is already in the fight with England. Declaring war will allow us to fight back. We already have England on the ropes."

It is easy to see mistakes in hindsight.

Churchill had some boneheaded ideas such as viewing Italy as the “soft underbelly” of Europe. However, nothing can take away the fact that he rallied the British people when they were down to throwing empty Guinness bottles at the Nazis. And he did his part to rally a reluctant USA to stand up to Uncle Joe and wage the Cold War.

Can't understand why it's such a struggle for Tucker to side with Churchill instead of Hitler. Must be all that Psilocybin.

Churchill moved WWII into total war mode. It is true.

To claim the Russians are constrained when it comes to civilian casualties is stretching things. Russians have developed a deserved reputation for ruthless warfare.

Restrained, "civilized" warfare only existed for a limited time, essentially between Christian nations constrained by religion. Even then, the "rules" were often ignored.

We did. We set the stage, we did it all. It was inevitable.

Hitler was an opportunist who saw it coming and seized the reigns.

History is written by the Victors, but it’s always far more complex than we know.

I think that Putin is a bumbler. It cracks me up when zeepers think that his replacement would be more Democratic.

If Churchill had never been born, will there still have been the unfair Treaty of Versailles?
Yes.

If Churchill had never been born, would Hitler still have demanded the Rhineland, Czechoslovakia, and Poland?
Yes.

A severe alcoholic never stops after three drinks.
Case closed.

Churchill was the man of the Half Century. He saw the threat of Hitler, and then the threat of Communism, and set the terms in his “ Iron Curtian Speech “
