One of Hitler's primary strategies to win WWII was to keep the United States out of the fight, at least until he had conquered Europe (and Russia).
Until he made the dumb move to d3clear war on us. End of him.
Maybe that should have been Hitler's goal but that was not actually his goal. Hitler declared war on the United States on his own right after Pearl Harbor. One of the great blunders in history.

Remember that there were a big set of battles in south-east Asia that the Brits fought mostly on their own. They (the Brits) also won North Africa on their own.
Of course, the “their own” means the British EMPIRE - with 2 million Indian soldiers (all volunteers) fighting for Britain alongside Canadian, Australian, South African and New Zealander troops.
