A man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnast Kara Welsh in an apartment off campus, authorities said.
Welsh, who won an individual national title on the vault for the gymnastics team last year, was allegedly shot multiple times by a 23-year-old man at an apartment about a block from the university’s main campus Friday, police said.
Police have not released the name of the suspect, but they said they believe she knew him.
The nature of their relationship was not clear.
Police said officers arrived just before midnight Friday and found Welsh dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

They have nothing to do with why girls in collage have boyfriends
I was a college girl. I know a lot of former, recent and current college girls. I know very well why college girls have boyfriends
The smart ones defer whatever the reason is or they keep it casual. A guy will be as impatient and ungentlemanly as a girl will allow. Any serious guy will return
Meanwhile, any smart girl will get her education done. Period. Summers too. Then get her career in order
That cannot be done efficiently when she’s involved in emotional entanglements, staring at her phone for a proper response etc
I’ve seen girls (and boys) fail to keep full ride scholarships talking regularly for hours with boyfriends. I’ve seen girls get 3 majors and a couple of masters’ done then working a good job by mid 20s. Can’t be done with a needy boyfriend hanging around

Where do people get the idea a third person was present?
The articles I’ve seen mention the victim and a 23 yo man - who was then arrested.
This:

does not imply a third person.
I’ve given up trying to find any details on the suspect.

“An acquaintance...”
“An altercation...”
That’s it. Nothing else anywhere.
Something is not right. Not even one question by the media.
“Someone did something.”
