When a Dominos or Pizza Hut opens in Little Italy, then it will be over for New York.
It doesn’t sound like the pizza I grew up to like. If I wanted salad pizza, I think it would make more sense just to order a salad. Can you get a potato salad pizza?
No thanks.
Mod pizza has been doing that for ages. It’s not really a pizza salad. It’s a salad, with a bakes pizza crust with spices and cheese on it to the side. Really it’s croutons writ large. Yummy.
As someone who is making beef ribs tomorrow - bookended by pizza today & Monday - I have only one word:
Sacrilege!!!!
White sauce is not a pizza.
A round flat bread covered in something is not a pizza.
Tell me you’re a Homo without telling me…
California Club Pizza.
Wolfgang Puck came out with BBQ chicken pizza. Then two lawyers who ate there ripped off his idea and opened California Pizza Kitchen.
But lettuce pizza is a step too far for me.
Salad on the side, with Balsamic vinaigrette, that’s fine.
Not for me, but I suppose just more one step since people started putting ranch dressing on pizza.
Wow I guess it’s not just me. I love a nice garden salad with a slice of cheese pizza and yes I put it on top (if I am not eating in public). It is wonderful. But I don’t think I want it already made this way. Too much risk of the salad getting warm and the lettuce losing its crispiness.
Used to say the same about clams on a pizza, but damn that’s good. At least in New Haven and surrounding areas.
These have a combination of ground beef with or without spices and then topped with fresh chopped lettuce and tomato.
It's best to order in house and eat quickly before the lettuce starts to wilt, but it can be a tasty option.
New York purists seem okay with Chicago Style "Pizza" if they don't insist on it being called a pizza, but instead call it a casserole.
If the purists don't like fresh chopped veggies on a pizza then we'll call it an Italian flatbread so it doesn't get their panties into a twist.
And, BTW, almost every review I've seen about "authentic" pizza in NY either has people eating just a cheese slice or at most a Margherita. Has anyone in NY heard of pepperoni? Mushrooms? Sausage? Green Peppers?
A sure sign of the collapse of civilization...
It IS a thing in Italy...
My god, next thing you know some crazy person will
put pineapple on one !!!
They have something around here, a “Big Mac Pizza”. Regular pizza with hamburger, thousand island dressing and after it’s cooked, sprinkled with shredded lettuce and chopped tomato.
My wife wanted to try it, and it’s actually not bad
Here in the southwest US, green chili is a favorite ingredient to add to pizza.
Some people think New York doesn’t have a death penalty. That’s not true. Creating and selling a pineapple pizza is a hanging offense.
Cooked bread with meat and salad stuff on it, sounds like Navajo fry bread street taco.
