The presidential candidate has repeatedly claimed the alleged work experience in an attempt to connect with low-wage workers.
Claim: In the 1980s, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris worked at McDonald's while she got her undergraduate degree.

Harris has made this claim repeatedly over the years, and multiple reputable news outlets have reported on the story. But, aside from Harris' testimony itself, there is no evidence (such as a photo, employment record, or confirmation from a friend or family member) to independently verify the claim. Though we've seen no reason to doubt its veracity, we've reached out to Harris' campaign and McDonald's for evidence to corroborate her claim and we'll update this report when we learn more.
Aside from the above-mentioned news reports, there was no tangible evidence of Harris working at McDonald's as a college student. We reached out to Harris' campaign, as well as McDonald's headquarters, seeking such proof — which could include photos or videos of her working at the restaurant, employment records or physical items such as a uniform or name tag. We also looked for public interviews by friends or family members of Harris' to confirm the story, with no luck.

I’m willing to give it to her. I have a number of jobs in my past that no longer appear on my resume for various reasons - insignificance, irrelevance, or long pastness. Why did she mention it? That question is more interesting. Might be a good reason. Might.

I must confess. I worked in 1964 at a McDonalds at age 14. had to walk three miles to and from. One of the old ones where they made the french fries from idaho potatoes (stored in the basement in 100lb bags, and all the rest of the non-automated food handling.
You started out in cleaning, then fries, then might learn the shake machine and filling it from the big stainless steel cow in the back....then to the grill doing buns and condiment prep.....then Grilling......then you go to the cash register because there was no automatic change determination or tax calculation...all the had to be figured out on the spot. the last thing they do is trust you with the money.

The free food for employees policies had been tightened down in fast food and restaurants, it became more formal and very limited, instead of getting to eat all the mistakes and make yourself something to eat whenever you wanted, you got limited to one meal per shift and sometimes that was at a discount rather than just free, or else you were given X allowance for the meal, that went for drinks and milkshakes as well.
Fallbrook is where I added arm-wrestling to my pool game to hustle drinks and food in bars, food was very important to me and I could never get enough, the McDonald’s food control was a problem.

One of my first actions when drifting into a new town as a teen was to get a free meal from a cute girl at a burger joint and make her a girlfriend for as long as I was there.
Her job was to ask, “would you like a word salad with that?”
