I must confess. I worked in 1964 at a McDonalds at age 14. had to walk three miles to and from. One of the old ones where they made the french fries from idaho potatoes (stored in the basement in 100lb bags, and all the rest of the non-automated food handling.
You started out in cleaning, then fries, then might learn the shake machine and filling it from the big stainless steel cow in the back....then to the grill doing buns and condiment prep.....then Grilling......then you go to the cash register because there was no automatic change determination or tax calculation...all the had to be figured out on the spot. the last thing they do is trust you with the money.
But, then again, “you” remember which McDonald’s you worked at. And what street in which specific city.
