The members of Swedish pop group ABBA have asked Donald Trump to stop using their music and videos at his campaign rallies, the band’s record label said.
ABBA hits including “The Winner Takes It All”, “Money, Money, Money” and “Dancing Queen” were played at a rally held by Trump and his running mate JD Vance on July 27 in Minnesota, accompanied by videos.
“Together with the members of ABBA, we have discovered that videos have been released where ABBA’s music has been used at Trump events, and we have therefore requested that such use be immediately removed and taken down,” the band’s record label Universal Music said in a statement.
It said no permission or license had been granted to the Trump campaign. […]
Several artists, or their representatives, have objected to their music being played at Trump events over the years, including late American singer-guitarist Tom Petty, British singer-songwriter Adele, and rock band R.E.M.
In April, late Irish singer and activist Sinéad O’Connor’s label also demanded the Trump campaign stop using her music.
Canadian singer Céline Dion and her label earlier this month made a similar complaint, calling the use of her performance “unauthorized”. …

Ask all they want- if he’s paid the licensing fees from their publisher== they are out of luck and full of shite as well. Mood pablum that their music is like human AI bots as singers.
Trump should respond: “So? You don’t have the guts to tell your government to stop in muslim invasion of Sweden, so you are unimportant to me.”
Doing what? Playing music that he has paid to play? These performers licence their music to outfits like Sony Music and the campaign buys a bulk license.
“The Trump campaign denied it had no rights, telling Forbes in a statement it “had a license to play ABBA music through our agreement with BMI and ASCAP,” two music licensing groups.”

They sold the rights. You might say they sold out to the establishment for money. They have been bought.
That’s what I thought.
Did they shout from the chute?
There is a near infinite supply of music that is in the public domain. John Philip’s Suza “The Thunderer” comes to mind. It could easily be rescored with a thumpier modern beat. But I like the original. Any Suza march would do.

They were dead to me before they started.
ABBA is only 3/4 Swedish. Singer Frida Lyngstad was born in Norway to a Norwegian mother and German (occupying Nazi) father.
I’ll admit I liked some of their music. However, I knew this would happen. Seems like they touted leftist causes and “Freda” gives millions to leftist climate activism.
Spoiled musicians with a bright recording engineer who gave them the unique sound by tricking the speed on the tapes and overlaying with the same voices at different speeds.
It’s difficult to find any recordings of isolated vocals without the backup layered tracks. Without that engineering, they would never have achieved the fame that they enjoy. Their unique sound had to be engineered completely.
Sorry, I assumed ABBA was lodging a non-BS complaint.
Obviously I should have known better.
So was G. Gordon Libby
Whoops. Liddy
ABBA is foreign and probably not wanting to take sides in the election.
The others, well...
Abba is pretty easy listening and certainly won't offend anyone. That's not to say it's great music, but they did do some catchy tunes.
I’m glad my ancestor’s left Ireland when they did.
Place is nothing but a shitte hole now.
So is the rest of the UK.
So these Swedish tramps don’t like Trump?
F ‘em.
And the Limey gits too.Over time I’ve become more of an Anglophobe.
No talent freaks.
ABBA Cadabra and your music is gone.
Abba and their fellow whiners need to go read the fine print on the royalty agreements they signed with ASCAP and BMI
"“The campaign had a license to play ABBA music through our agreement with BMI and ASCAP,” the spokesperson told the AP....Campaigns don’t need an artist’s express permission to play their songs at rallies as long as the political organization or the venue has gotten what’s known as a blanket license from the performing rights organizations ASCAP and BMI.."
