RFK Jr. could persuade moms like me to choose Trump as ‘Kennedy Republicans’
NY Post ^ | 8/28/24 | Maud Maron

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s endorsement of former President Donald Trump is a classic example of Ronald Reagan’s famous explanation for the change in his political allegiance: “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.”

And it has the power to tip the election in Trump’s favor, especially in the swing states that will decide it.

Endorsements, while highly coveted by politicians, don’t usually change election outcomes, but this one feels different.

Kennedy, a blue-blood Democrat from the nation’s most famous political dynasty, is speaking to many fellow “former Democrats” — especially newly activated moms like me.

In contrast to the hasty anointment and enforced “joy” of Kamala Harris — who until a month ago was a historically unpopular vice president — Kennedy raises big issues and treats voters like adults whose votes must be earned.

He talks about topics that have traditionally galvanized liberal and progressive Democrats: free speech, protecting the vulnerable, championing the environment and fighting for the American family.

School closures, migrant surges, steep inflation and radical gender policies have created disgruntled Democrats and irate independents who might vote for a Republican — think of how in past decades Rudy Giuliani, George Pataki and Michael Bloomberg fared in deep-blue New York.

These voters have so far resisted Trump and the MAGA movement, but RFK has a shot at swaying them.

Kennedy Catholics became Obama voters. Do we need more “Kennedy” anything?

Couldn’t care less what makes them vote for Trump. We just need to get over that Tuesday line and we’ll deal with what comes after, after.

Only if you want to crash something.

"Kennedy Catholics became Obama voters. Do we need more “Kennedy” anything?"

I am dead-set against life-long RATS changing the color of their skins like chameleons to gain political power. I don't trust RFK, Jr. or Tulsi Gabbard, and never will.

I’ll never forget when Duncan Hunter ran in the 2008 primary.

Instead of using the term RINO, he used the term Teddy Kennedy Wing of the Republican Party.

He was referring to Jethro Bodine Bush and his brain Karl Rove.

First thing Jethro did after he got to DC was get in bed with Teddy Kennedy and pass a “bi-partisan” education bill called No Child Left Behind which was little more than big buck payouts to the teacher’s unions of which Teddy took all the credit.

I like the sound of Kennedy Republicans better than I liked what I’ve seen with the Teddy Kennedy wing of the Republican Party.

"then you must hate jd vance"

When was he a RAT? He is shown as being a life-long registered Republican, and not having belonged to any other political party. He was a Never-Trumper, not a registered RAT, and admits he changed his mind on Trump, which a lot of other people have done over the past almost 8 years. I didn't care for Trump when he announced his run in 2015. I couldn't see myself voting for him. My attitude changed when I began listening to him, and I was shocked that here was a man that said the things I'd wished other Republican Presidential candidates had said over the years. He convinced me that he was the real deal, not some scummy candidate picked by the GOPe or the media, like the Bushes, McCain or Romney who couldn't fight theirselves out of a paper bag, and wouldn't even try. And I'll admit I voted for all of them. But I'll never compromise my values ever again to vote for a Republican candidate that I know won't be good for America, just to keep the office in Republican hands.

When I could first legally vote at the age of 21 back in 1968, I was a registered Democrat, because my father was a Democrat. I woke up when Reagan ran for President. Even Reagan and Trump had once been registered Democrats. In Reagan's case, I think the pressure in Hollywood back then was to be a Democrat, especially an FDR Democrat during WWII. In Trump's case, as a businessman, and especially a businessman in NY City, he had to play both sides if he wanted to be successful, and get cooperation from NY politicians to support his building projects. I don't believe he ever agreed with RAT politics. Back then it was a necessary evil for him. And he was only registered in that party for 8 years.

I'd rather support someone like J.D. Vance who publicly admits he was wrong about President Trump. Has either RFK, Jr. or Tulsi Gabbard ever admitted that they were wrong to have been RATS their whole life? Has Tulsi Gabbard ever apologized for saying Trump was guilty of crimes on January 6th? The only reason RFK, Jr. changed to being an independent was because his own party wouldn't accept him as a viable candidate. They were running full and hard with the cognitively challenged Biden. Then dumped him like a hot potato when he flopped at the debate.

The only difference with RFK, Jr., is that he wasn't offered money, or a house to drop out of the race. He was simply cancelled as a life-long member of the RAT party. Even Cornel West today said he was offered a job in Harris's Administration, if he'd drop out of the race. Isn't that rich? A woman who claims she's black but really isn't, trying to bribe a black man who happens to be her political opponent to drop out.

” Welcome her in with true joy.”

The “purists” here evidently have never worked in campaigns.

Except in small elections, candidates get elected by coalitions.

You don’t win by driving off people who don’t share all of your views but who are willing to help you for the greater good.

And that’s what Trump is putting together.

The purists are busy typing furiously and chewing their tongue while we do. Say a prayer they get motivated but either way every circus needs a peanut gallery. It’s all good.

Also, Kamala Harris is a fraud. If it was Hillary, at least she was a well-known figure and she's intelligent. We can't say that about Kamala.

Now the pressure is on Kamala so she may start to make mistakes and say stupid stuff.

Her handlers are trying to hide her but they can't do that 100% of the time.
