Everything is lies, lies, lies
I have run in to a few of those fake jobs.............
This is one of the downsides of digital media. The cost of posting B.S. online is almost $0, so there’s very little downside to inundating the internet with fake job postings, fake resumes, and fake ads.
I’m struggling to figure out why companines would do this; the reasons postulated in the article are not convincing.
Possibilities:
The HR personnel are trying to appear to be doing something useful.
Some portion of the current employees might be so marginal that the company wants to keep tabs on the available replacement pool. If the company gets applications from better quality applicants, they might find it easier to let their duds go.
They might be testing trends on pay expectations.
Is it a black job or another type? Just following orders from the DNC.
One side concern I have in all of this is the amount of information people are sending to these employers and hiring companies as part of applying for ghost jobs. It’s bad enough that we have so much personal information on the Internet, but in the case of applying for these jobs, people are willingly sending it to them.
Some do it to monitor their own workforce by identifying those who want to jump ship.
Years ago I had an associate who was a backstabbing pain in the arse. He sent his resume to a PO Box job ad that a friend of mine opened to fill a legitimate opening in his CPA firm. My friend gave me the resume so I could write the rejection letter for him. Must admit that it was fun to write. Never said a word about it to the guy.
As if looking for a job wasn’t enough of a pain already.
Is this similar to what the government does with thier fake jobs - and cash going under the table?
I’ve seen them where they will have a description of the various jobs they would be looking for, IF they had any actual openings... These some times show up in search engines and job sites.
This is a scummy thing to do for desperate people. However my reply is to send in fake resumes to these fake jobs. Fake names, addresses and SS numbers. Turnabout is fair play.
BTTT!!!
Hubby, now retired, gets a kick out looking at prior employers’ H.R. websites and the positions they have posted. 99% of them don’t exists. Not sure what the deal is, but they’re companies in incestuous relationships with the Fed government, and we think it might have to do with getting grant money or something — having those jobs appear for all to see. It doesn’t make sense, and we don’t know for sure.
Can you believe they are just now discussing this? Most job adds are gathering info only. Hello!
As someone seeking employment for 2 years now I’ve learned they are not serious. When they are you had best be Latin or bilingual. Noteeth and stupid seem to work.
If you walk in they tell you to apply online. Only 2 out of hundred returned my email with a decline and that I needed to be bilingual. I still get email ads to this day from one of them for jobs. Incredible.
