@ThinkAppraiser
My buddy just went to Home Depot to get a guy for unskilled day labor and the guy wanted $32 an hour
(Excerpt) Read more at x.com ...
The gentleman is saying this is way too much especially for someone with no tools or truck in the parking lot.
You know what they say about wanting in one hand and crapping in the other...
Which one gets fuller faster.
José is getting lazy on food stamps. Next time mess with his head and ask to see his green card.
Where, in LA?
If you want a light house cleaning right now the going rate is $25.
So it wouldn’t surprise me.
61,000 a year. Barely enough to live in the United States. But, the person would have to be hired every day for 8 hours, 5 days a week. Highly unlikely.

Then You can be left with U.S. Citizens.
Lately, I don’t care what it is around your house you want done, some illegal (or his American born son translating for him) will tell you $300 even for most any quick job that can be knocked out in a couple hours (trimming your hedges, for example).
I just tell them “you want way too much and a no thanks.”
The one thing I won’t do is go look for labor at a corner lot or Home Depot. You have no way to track/identify who these people are at all.
Going to a parking lot picking up probably illegal unskilled labor is the problem. No worse than picking up a hooker.
“when a hooker costs less than unskilled construction labor you just know the end is near” L.Star
Regards,
Offer him $50 per hour then drive off. Show him the real price for his labor.
EC
LOL, I read it that way at first also.
A place where I once worked(a mechanic shop) had a guy come in, claimed he had 20 yrs. experience & wanted a job. When he showed up for work with his tools, he had them all in a small canvas bag. As I recall, he didn’t remain employed there for very long. This was many years ago, & I think pay then amounted to about $4 /hr. which was not too bad for the times.
>> Next time mess with his head and ask to see his green card.
LOL! I like the way you think.
Agree to it. Then at the end of the day give him $20/hr and say you sent the rest to the government for fica, ssi, unemployment insur., union dues, one day of home owners medical coverage...
Well, he does have to pay taxes and SS on it.
;)
You really don’t know what you’re doing with them at HD or other corner lot standing around. Definitely illegals, not even hooked up enough to get on with others on a build crew or something. No background checks, health checks or any of that stuff. And you’re driving them to your house so they can do what? Case it for a robbery?
The one piece of advice I’d give anyone, though, is that if you’re gonna do it and hire one, make sure they don’t have any tats if you can.
I charge 300.
Ebay advertises a price. It is only worth that price if a schlep will pay it.
Free market. If he don’t want to pay it then he won’t. If that’s what the guy thinks he’s worth, then he’ll find out. Not really much of a reason to bitch about it. Pay or don’t, then move on.
