The only problem with conspiracy theories is, which conspiracy. All the people who do believe in conspiracies think they’re being perpetrated by their ideological and/or theological boogie men. Right-wingers think it’s left-wingers. Left-wingers think it’s right-wingers. Protestants think it’s Jesuits. Catholics think it’s Free Masons. Socialists think it’s capitalistic Jews. Nazis think it’s socialistic Jews. Capitalists who are not communists themselves think it’s communists. Muslims think it’s everyone who isn’t a Muslim, but especially Jews. Israel-loving Jews think it’s Iran. Leftard Jews think it’s J6ers and Trump. Putin and Xi Jingpig are up to something, but nobody’s sure what. Everyone’s favorite culprit these days is WEF and George Soros.

So which conspiracy is the real conspiracy? Part of the conspiracy is to obfuscate that question.

Reminds me of an old song.

“I am amazed at how the world’s secrets and conspiracies are so well known at flea markets and in trailer parks.”

I think people are confusing ‘people who believe in conspiracies’ with ‘“ people who are delusional paranoid”

I have been in countless low-end bars over my lifetime and all over the country, and conspiracies and urban legends are a constant in them

I can’t tell you how many guys whose uncle knew the guy who built the carburetor that ran on water and was killed by General Motors/Ford I have met in dive bars around the United States, along with many more tales of whatever the conspiracies were of the period.

“I was lucky to have been raised in a golden age...”

The 90’s are certainly the “good old days” compared to now, but the 50’s were the Golden Years!

Many delusional paranoiacs believe in conspiracies. Many successful people say they don’t believe in conspiracies, but maybe that’s just their cover story. There probably are conspiracies, but if you think you know which conspiracy, that may well be what the real conspiracy wants you to think.

Twilight Zone episodes come to mind.

You have to be able to sift through the drunk talk to pick up useful nuggets.😀 Unfortunately, I’m usually just as bad off as the target!😎

I’m not demoralized, because I’m not stupid enough to believe the random dumb $#%% that passes for thought in conspiracy land. The problem isn’t the stuff you link to, the incredibly rare, generally rather minor, and often pathetic “conspiracy” between 4 people that does nothing. The problem is the NEXT link
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conspiracy_theories
A bunch of really stupid crap believed by more and more people that is just pathetic.

There’s also the sheer entertainment value of controversial, specious content.

Although I’m one to regularly bash the public façade of public characters, the infighting that stems from controversy is unfortunate, and I tend to avoid it these days. The intolerance for not being 100% about a particular issue is also unfortunate — a once linearly evolving pattern that developed precipitously early 2021. That said, you may have noticed an affinity I have to the 100% causes, but I’ll max out at 90% leaving room for curiosity & opposing views. But the intolerant “I’m not interested in reading your stupid BS” is often hilarious and spot on... lol

All-in-all, the diversity of thought, and opinions not expressed, are quite interesting — the FReepers’ input & information for a given article regularly go far beyond the excerpt. Am I the only that often jumps ahead to the comments to assess the potential value of the article? Ironically, the title for this article had me immediately engaged in what the author had to say...lol

It’s worth it to get RFK’s endorsement.

No, he didn’t. That claim goes back to a French Canadian priest who became vehemently anti-Catholic and believed the Jesuits and the Vatican were behind everything from the Civil War to the Lincoln assassination and beyond.

Instead of despairing, they founded their own underground schools and art associations to pursue excellence without political interference. When the Communist Party grew weak, they had the skills and the network needed to take advantage of the opportunity.

To a communist, that looks like a conspiracy, so maybe conspiracies are real after all.

Yep. Conspiracies have occurred throughout history, yet some believe they don’t exist now and in this country. I can’t see how anyone could have experienced the last decade and not be aware that countless so called conspiracies theories ended up being conspiracy facts. I know of one that I was personally involved in, mentioned it a bit, got the same responses by the same types of people... and then of course it came out as fact; no apologies.

Your defense of conspiracy theories is more conspiracy theories?

Conspiracy theories often use factual information but make connections where there aren’t any.

When used as a pejorative, the term was quoted to make the distinction from a theoretically plausible conspiracy.
