Betelgeuse is one of the easiest stars at the sky to identify.

Find the constellation of Orion, "the hunter." The star that marks the hunter's left shoulder (from your vantagepoint) looks conspicuously red.
That is Betelgeuse. Easy-peasy.

Betelgeuse is the only star that can be seen as a ‘disk’ through a earth telescope because of its huge size, as big as the orbit of Jupiter, and its relatively close proximity of 600 LY......
