Edmond Public Schools said it’s a practice not to fly any flags on campus, but it’s not a policy. When they informed a student, a group started organizing to show their “American pride.”
“I’ve been flying it for quite a while,” said Caleb Horst, a senior at the high school

Even in conservative areas, the public schools are infested with America haters.
School administration and administrators need to be publicly beaten to death.
“Edmond Public Schools said it’s a practice not to fly any flags on campus,”
And why is that?
It might be because once one flag starts flying, others are soon to follow. Before you know it, the u.s. flag will be disallowed by policy, not because admin is anti American, but they don’t want problems caused by flags for every cause.
How about US and Oklahoma flags?
Bullcrap. Every school I ever saw in Texas or Oklahoma had a US, a state and maybe a tribal flag.
Flying the US flag doesn’t mean you are obligated to fly every other flag someone dreams up.
School administrators continue to astound me. It’s like they are running their own fifedoms instead of being public servants.
In Eugene Oregon, when the coalition was getting ready to expel Husein from Kuwait a motel on a street near us flew the American flags they put out for holidays. The motel was forced to remove them as an illegal display of the American flag.
My might expect this to happen in places like CA, MA and IL. But its extremely alarming when you see it in a place like OK.
“its extremely alarming when you see it in a place like OK.”
Really. I think OK is the only state where 100% of the counties went for Trump. These school officials are turds in the punch bowl.
Flying the flag on campus isn’t the same thing as students flying it from their vehicle.
Lots of fire departments in the area started flying US flags on their apparatus after the Murrah Building bombing in 1995. If that practice has continued (and I don’t know as I’ve moved from the OKC Metro to the Tulsa Metro), I guess the Edmond PS admins would chase the fire department away if one of their buildings were on fire.
As a retired school employee, I can assure you there is very little value added by the multiple layers of administrators that have proliferated over the years. This is merely a blatant example of the worthless nature of most of this educational bureaucrat. Like First Lady Jill, they hide behind the letters after their name.
Seems to me the Teachers Unions are now becoming more Communistic and woke than Democratic and pupil oriented and that is filtering down to all el/hi school systems.
Exactly!
Good to see this type of rebellion and patriotism in today’s youth.
Very good point. That’s another reason this was a violation of his rights and not just poor education.
FTA:
“It is the practice of Edmond Public Schools to not permit students to fly or bring flags of any kind on our school campuses. This practice has been in place for several years and is explained to our students at the start of the school year along with various other policies and procedures. This is designed to prevent disruptions and distractions during the school day. It is also done in an effort to provide a safe school environment as flying flags on vehicles creates safety issues in the parking lot as well as can cause damage to other vehicles,” Edmond Public School officials said.
“To be clear, this is not about the American flag or patriotism. Edmond Public Schools proudly displays the American flag prominently and in the proper, respectful way outside each of our buildings and in our classrooms. Not only do we recite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning as we start our school day, but we also present the colors and play the national anthem at most of our athletic events. All of these things are done in the proper fashion according to flag etiquette.”
I’m not sure this is any different than disallowing hats in school. A “no hats” policy would prohibit American flag ball caps, not because of the American flag, but because hats are not allowed.
This news article is nothing but outrage mongering. Don’t be an outragenik.
