That’s a lotta moolah for a chapeau!

But I read an article here on FR yesterday that reported a prototype Boba Fett figure from Kenner went for…$1.8 million?!? Three times as much for a toy that never went into production!

For 630K I’d hold out for a DNA test.

Indie’s costume was inspired by the one Charlton Heston wore in the 1954 movie “Secret of the Incas”.

From wikipedia:

“Throughout Secret of the Incas, the main character, Harry Steele, can be seen wearing what would later become known as the “Indiana Jones” outfit: brown leather jacket, fedora, tan pants, an over-the-shoulder bag, and revolver.[15] The character also sometimes wears a light beard, unusual for films of its time, and there is a tomb scene involving a revelatory shaft of light similar to the “Map Room” sequence in Raiders.

Raiders’ costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis noted that the inspiration for Indiana’s costume was Charlton Heston’s Harry Steele in Secret of the Incas: “We did watch this film together as a crew several times, and I always thought it strange that the filmmakers did not credit it later as the inspiration for the series” and quipped that the film is “almost a shot for shot Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

The hat was part of the personal collection of Dean Ferrandini, a stunt performer who also wore the hat while doubling for Ford in the film. Ferrandini died in 2023.

He didn't take it with him. But he could have.

(Those Egyptians sure knew how to go out with their stuff.)

Ferrandini, Ferdinand: "brave in journey"

He was "a stunt performer"

All hat, no cattle...

No hat, all cattle?

It's an important question.

Judging by Ford’s political insights, I would guess the hat is a size 4 1/2.

Fedora's have a great shape, imo.

I think they work best on us less than six foot guys . . .

Yesterday, there was a story about a toy that sold for $1,300,000.

What is in a person’s heart that they would spend so much money for something so worthless?
