Cool!
Thanks for posting this.
The device will allow drones to precisely navigate to a target safe from the interference now affecting GPS equipped drones.
Very interesting and good to see something not relying on a satellite that can be jammed or even shot down. I’m sure there will be many applications for this. Personal, business, gov. etc. will benefit, I’m sure. But I’m old school and always have a map handy, a state map and whatever county maps I need to get to where I’m going. It gives me a perspective of where I am, nearby roads, distances, etc. at a glance, and they don’t “re-calibrate”. Yeah, I’m an old fart.
More precise missile targeting. Yay.
Wonder if there will be a market for home defense EMP devices?
Somebody please photo shop some diversity/die into that picture it just can’t be, ii’ma humming the hymn ‘Amazing Grace’
How soon before they give the tech to the Chicoms?
As I’m reading this I’m reminded of the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator. My gyros are tumbled.
I’m sure the PRC can hardly wait for it to be perfected enough for them to steal.

The China spy is already there.
Many pilots of ships and planes are acquainted with inertial navigation systems. Given a known starting location, they precisely sense acceleration in all three dimensions and, knowing that, can keep track of the vehicle’s position relative to that starting position.
This article describes a new way of precisely measuring acceleration. The article, like typical technical articles written for publicity purposes, begins with a snazzy picture and talks about what the gadget could do, and about the project sponsors. the excitement, etc.
Sounds exactly like the Quantum Gyroscope that Sheldon, Leonard, and Howard were working on for the Air Force.
I wonder if anyone at The Big Bang Theory will take credit given their season where the boys worked on a quantum vortex gyroscope 😀
“a device that controls light on a microchip”
could eventually revolutionize fiber optic data communications as well ...
This is good stuff for when they take down the GPS system. What I find interesting in the photo is their clothing. They are not dressed in the full lab get-up which gives me the impression that this system is not that sensitive to extraneous interference.
Well that will make jamming of cruise missiles next to impossible.
