Some munitions are at depths of 150 to 220 metres, but others in Lake Neuchatel are just six or seven metres below the surface.
Now, the Swiss defence department is offering 50,000 francs (£45,000) in prize money for the best idea to get it out.
The munitions pose two risks, he said. First, despite the fact it is underwater, there is still a risk of explosion, because in many cases "the army did not remove the fuses before dumping the munition".

Strong magnets. I will accept francs but prefer payment in dollars.
Why would they even dump them like that. They had to have known it would be a problem later.
A long boom with an electromagnet would probably pick it up. I’m sure it is probably all cased in iron.
“Strong magnets.”
Yep...
The railroad around here has a truck with a generator and electromagnet that picks up a ton of iron spikes, tie plates, Etc. at a time.
firearm “boating accidents” taken to the next level.
Drop more explosives and set the new ones off, to destroy the old ones. Call 1-800-UKR-AINE for supplies.

Gold.
“Strong magnets”
Might not be a good idea if it’s an impact fuse.
I keep hearing from Zelenskyy that Ukraine is desperate for more arms and ammo...maybe he should send some of his navy divers to recover all of this stuff. The Swiss get their lakes cleaned up and the Ukes get some more ammo. Win/Win. /s
No worries, the Scots have been training Nessie and are almost ready to lend her out to the Swiss.
Lake Constance has several tons of bombs dropped during World War II.
And old friend grew up on Lake Constance, as a kid had a boat made from sawing a U.S. fighter drop tank in half.
There is an entire WW2 ammo ship in the Thames. No one wants to touch it as WHEN it explodes it will flood everything nearby.
An obvious solution is to use a platform descending electromagnet that can act by remote control. The platform would have a detachable RC boat to receive any munitions found.
Basically “magnet fishing” on a large scale.
Sound theory. Low tech. Relatively inexpensive. Safe.
