12-year-old Texas girl dies after parents used smoothies to treat life-threatening injuries

A 12-year-old Texas girl died Monday after her mother and stepfather failed to seek medical attention for four days following life-threatening injuries, instead attempting to nurse her back to health with smoothies, authorities said.

Miranda Sipps, a cheerleader at Jourdanton Junior High School in Christine, Texas, was found in critical condition when her mother called 911 on Monday evening, according to a statement from the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office. Christine is a small community about 45 miles south of San Antonio.

An investigation led by the sheriff’s office revealed that Sipps had suffered from severe and life-threatening injuries the previous Thursday. For the following four days, Sipps’ mother and stepfather failed to get her medical assistance even though she was largely unconscious. No other children were in the home.

Soward said that Sipps’ parents attempted to treat her injuries by giving her smoothies with vitamins. As the girl’s condition worsened and she began having trouble breathing on Monday evening, her mother finally called 911.

My guess is they’ve believed conspiracy theories about the evils of modern medicine and doctors. “Smoothies” are code words for herbal treatments

and Harris will save them money on groceries and, more likely, make their food stamps stretch further.

If it were 2020 I suppose this would be a COVID death.
If it were 2022 I suppose this would be a vaccine death.

How ridiculous, although you do illustrate just how deeply antivax propaganda has conditioned some people.

A death from life-threatening injuries is always attributed to complications from the injuries, regardless of what else might be occurring. Physicians do not put unrelated conditions on death certificates. And the number of actual deaths that can be linked to vaccines (not caused by, just linked) is an astronomically low number compared to the number of deaths caused by the diseases vaccines are targeted against.

I know, according to antivax propaganda, all of the 3,383,729 deaths that occurred in 2020 were deemed as being caused by Covid. In reality, only 350,831 deaths were attributed to Covid, while the other 3,032,898 deaths were caused by the usual killers, like heart attacks, strokes, accidents, etc.

The type, amount and extent of the injuries has also NOT been reported. Why even print crap like this if there’s nothing to say?

First the loving step father beats her within an inch of her life, then the loving mother treats her with smoothies containing ibuprofen.

What was wrong with her?

The article never tells what was actually wrong with her.

That sort of plays a SIGNIFICANT role!

Passing out can be something as mundane as dehydration, and I don’t rush to the hospital for that either.

After reading all the comments I’ll add what I found researching this the first few days it was reported. One, she had no broken bones. Two, the parents told LE what happened to cause the injuries. Third, yes, charges are pending.

Here are my guesses. One, head injury practicing her routine at home which wouldn’t necessarily cause a skull fracture. Two, she got hold of some drugs in the home that caused the death, but not sure that would be called an injury. Three, no idea other than that :(

Got a good idea that the stepfather is the cause.

I have that feeling too. And the fact they wouldn’t let anybody come to the house and they met the ambulance away from the house when they *finally* called sounds pretty shady.

Just searched for more on this case and found that yes, both custodial parent have been charged with a felony related to “ omission of care “. CPS has been to the home 3 times this year. Once for scratches on the child. Another for domestic issue between the parents. The third was vague and I didn’t understand other that welfare check on Miranda. Also found the home was disgusting and the parents’ excuse for not calling an ambulance was so no one would see the inside of the home. Apparently the girl had been placed on a pallet in the living room while in her poor condition. Not kidding!

I’m starting to lean towards the poor kid attempted suicide and may well have survived if care was rendered.

When there’s a stepdad involved, suspicions can’t help but abound. She was brought back from somewhere not mentioned, apparently not the school as per the sheriff. The mom has a partial smile on her face and doesn’t look at all fazed. Relatives set up a GoFundMe account to pay for the funeral. Does it really cost 15k for a simple funeral? I know it’s expensive but that seems like a lot.

I found this:
"Soward (Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward) said at a news conference on Aug. 15 that he’s “not 100% sure” how the injuries occurred."

Wondering if the parents were wetbacks, which is why they delayed the call to 911.

“I wonder what the “life threatening” injuries were...”

Latest I’ve been able to find is that she died from neck injuries. As both mom and dad were arrested on tuesday and he made bail, she didn’t, they don’t want to screwup a case with an early attempt at misdiagnosys. They are calling the final determinationm for the autopsy “pending.” What theymay have done is a first degree felony.

That could be but I still think the parents are involved with or the cause of the injuries.
