While Belarus’s Lukashenko has commented on the cross-border attacks, Central Asian nations stay mum.
Almost two years ago, a dozen Uzbek youngsters pleaded with their president to save them from the horrors of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Uzbek nationals enrolled in western Russia’s Kursk Medical University recorded a video address to Shavkat Mirziyoyev in October 2022 saying their studies had been affected by Kyiv’s shelling of nearby towns and the hostilities in the neighbouring Ukrainian region of Sumy.
“Please transfer us to medical schools in Uzbekistan,” one of the students said. Uzbek diplomats pledged to assess the situation.
There have been no further reports about their fate – just like Uzbekistan’s official response to one of the war’s most daring developments – Kyiv’s incursion into Kursk.
Since August 6, Ukrainian forces have reportedly occupied dozens of villages and hamlets on more than 1,000 square kilometres (386 square miles) and captured Russian servicemen.
Uzbekistan had to respond – according to the letter of the Collective Security Treaty (CST), a military accord Tashkent signed with Russia, its Central Asian neighbours Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and Belarus.
But only one of their leaders, the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, has so far commented on the Kursk offensive.

Kursk is about 200 miles from Moscow. This is hot.
“As Ukraine invades Russia’s Kursk region, where are Putin’s allies?”
They are weighing their options. They switch sides as frequently as a baby has their diapers changed.
How many countries are wondering if it’s now the time to drive the Russians out
Putin has only one “maybe” ally in Xi.
Lukashenko is a vassal as are the other heads of CIS states - they cannot say anything against the Kremlin yet.
I’m thinking how close to Moscow before the nukes start sprouting mushrooms?
China - crickets
Iran - crickets
North Korea - crickets
Iran is a bit busy right new to help—but they will. North Korea is also busy but willing to send weapons and men. China will send money and computer chips—and watch how Russia takes care of this attack. Putin has “Lost Face” in Chinese eyes. But Russia always does well when they are forced with the back to the wall. I expect some brilliant move that will cost a lot of lives. This might have ended any peaceful solution to the war and will cause it to become a bloody donnybrook, a bitter slug fest. Ukraine and Western Europe will suffer for this move—But that is good for the USA. We will be firmly in Control of Europe for the next few years! They will buy our gas to stay alive and help us in our many future wars.
The Putin alliance is an amalgamation of losers

Military authorities in the eastern Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk on Friday urged civilians to speed up their evacuation because the Russian army is quickly closing in on what has for months been one of Moscow’s key targets.
Authorities said in a Telegram post that Russian troops are “advancing at a fast pace. With every passing day there is less and less time to collect personal belongings and leave for safer regions.”

Where’s Putin? MIA for 3 days..,
Putin has pointed out that since the Ukrainian forces include mercenaries who are shooting at civilians (people, cars, ambulances, firetrucks etc.) and the Ukrainians have attacked nuclear power plants - Russia has identified this incursion as terrorism, saying such actions are not proper military targets. He seems to think he can address the terrorism with his own troops.
