Intergenerational sexual partnerships may increase the risk of HIV among young MSM. This matters because the older someone is, the more sexual encounters (and chances of HIV exposure) they are likely to have had.
Note that the lowest age bracket describing "young people" necessarily includes 13-year-olds.

My understanding is the skin in the anus (unlike in the vagina) is very thin and prone to tearing easily. Anal sex often time tears the skin open giving HIV easy access.

That was the sales pitch. Also, "gay marriage" was supposed to tame untethered homosexual men into "monogamous" relationships with the implied expectation of one, or at least, "fewer" sexual partners.
Instead, an unprecedented skyrocketing rate of STD's among the population occurred since 2015, driven largely by male homosexuals. That epidemic continues, including a persistent rate increase in syphilis, was was effectively eradicated as a first-world disease in the past 30 years.
HIV is spread the same way as hepatitis B. Thru broken skin into the blood stream. This means that a person could drink a liquid with Hep B or HIV and it would pass through the body without infecting him or her, unless there was some broken membrane that allowed the virus an entry into the bloodstream.
Gay men, lacking vaginas, engage in anal sex which is an unnatural sex act that often causes torn skin and a mixing of bloods.
Also, the rectum is nature’s exit, so there is not much there in the way of antibodies to fight off diseases that might be inserted there unnaturally.
Everett Koop, the former surgeon general, in his zeal to prevent gays from being picked on, refused to condemn their behavior and acts, even though these sex acts were directly responsible for the spread of AIDS in the gay community.

Seeing a lot of this lately and I think I’ve figured it out.
When the bare bones news story is written, it is of findings which are in conflict with the woke party line.
Woke editors plump the story up with woke jargon to try and diminish the effects of the truth.
