The human body doesn’t age steadily throughout middle age and instead goes through bursts of rapid aging typically at around age 44 and again at 60, according to a new study published Wednesday in the academic journal Nature Aging.
Stanford University researchers tracked age-related changes in more than 135,000 types of molecules and microbes in samples collected every three to six months from more than 100 adults between the ages of 25 and 75 years old.
Researchers gathered more than 5,400 blood, stool, skin nasal swab and oral swabs as part of the study, and as a result were able to track more than 135,000 different kinds of chemical compounds, bacteria and cell parts affected by aging.
Scientists found the abundance of these molecules and microbes did not change steadily over time but rather increased and decreased rapidly around two ages — first around the onset of a person’s 40s and again in their 60s.

I see you know whats good for the prostate.
I can only say what Diane Keaton shouted in “Baby Boom”: I USED TO BE CUTE!
Can’t recall exactly at what age that ended.
:-).
Level of endurance creeps down.....you can still live life but your body begins to tell you when enough is enough as it ages. It physically resists.
44 is the EXACT age I first noticed a decline in my workouts...running, walking, hiking, weights. Talked about it to family & friends at the time.
Until that age, I never felt any real physical decline.
Genetics plays a role too.....some families have histories of longevity - others might have members who suffer from heart issues at a young age. Also male and female differs as well as injuries that slow us down more than aging.
Add 72 also.
Lots of bad things seem to happen around then. Maybe it’s a fall or an illness but something can happen that you just don’t fully come back from.
You’ll say it’s all good but something is no longer the same.
Some people are so kind!

You realize that that equates to only 2 quarts of water a day?
I suppose that that might suffice - provided you spend most of the day slouched in a comfy chair in an air-conditioned apartment.

Or was he rather lying on the couch?

Hah! The second after I replied, I saw my error, wondered if anyone noticed. You win the awareness award.
Maybe a liar lying on the couch telling lies? Getting laid on the couch? Who was he laying? Gotta know these things.
I supplement my 2 quarts water with 2 quarts beer. Doesn’t make me look any younger, but it does make me...uh, never mind.
True. Environment and nutrition also. Some do well in arid climates others more humid, or cold vs. warmer or hot.
More like I win the "Time Is Heavy on His Hands" Award!

I think we’re in the same club. I’m also in my 70’s, don’t look it, but I am in no way in the same shape as when I was younger. I’m sure as hell not doing 50 pushups, 100 situps, or anything like that every morning. But it came to me slowly. I’m still more active than many 50 year old men and even the 40 year old couch potato that’s glued to the tv all day.
