“And I know a woman who should probably be put down for the same reason”
Thanks for the laugh lol!
Many, many moons ago I was running almost every day. One morning, I awoke very early, 4am. I decided to go for just some flatland running, no hills, so I remained in my neighborhood. After about half an hour, I noticed a pack of 8-10 dogs about half a mile away. They did not all look feral, and I didn’t care anyway. I decided to end my run and took a different route home. They are called animals for a reason.
“How do we know it was Danes and not Sweden or Norwegians? Seems like racial profiling.”
Nice!
I have known a bunch of Great Danes, one of my Bosses had 4 of them (and stock in Ralston Purina)
I am far more wary of those nasty ankle biting chihuahuas.
So any breed can go feral if given enough time?
Beautiful picture, reminds me of my wonderful Great Dane who was a manteled black-and-white Dane. Aside from his size, he looked a great deal like a black and white Beagle with his huge, floppy ears. My experience has caused me to name Great Danes, “honey monster love dogs.”
Indeed my only real complaint about the breed is that they have tragically short life spans. I was lucky with mine because he gave me 10 wonderful years.
I suspect you’re right in the view of the view that someone probably accidentally identified them as Great Danes. One thing for sure, each one of them weighs someplace between 120 and 160 pounds and has a huge appetite. Anybody who spends that much on that many Great Danes is likely to be in the business of raising them because there’s no other way to recover the investment. Right now if you go out to purchase a Great Dane puppy there’s a good chance you’ll end up paying somewhere between $1,000 and $3000. No way a breeder who is that heavily invested will allow such a pack to run loose because of the danger of losing much of the breeder’s investment.
When you visited him, you were probably at great risk of either being licked to death or squashed by them alll wanting to lean on you at the same time and demanding to be scratched.
Right on all counts. Bless the 10 years you got...my sister only got 7 which is about average I believe.
I may have gotten the 10 years out of him because he only weighed about 120 pounds, making him a smaller version of the breed. With Danes it looks like the bigger the dog gets, the shorter lifespan you will get out of the dog.
Danes, Swedes, Norwegians, Belgians, Brits, what's the difference?
Animal control is definitely going to be under the microscope, as well they should.
Exactly. A posse of half-dozen men from the community could got out and fix this problem pronto.
βIt's better to be judged by 12 than carried by six.β
I have forested property out in the country. Every couple of years I run across a pack of feral dogs. They have no fear of humans and are very aggressive. I carry a Taurus judge and a 9mm. Last time they threatened me, I fired off the judge with .410 rounds. Hit one and the rest scattered.
Feral dogs are like coyotes or wolves. They pack up and will attack nearly anything or anyone.
Poor lady! What terrible way to go!
Probably Pit Bulls.
Funny thing is, they have nothing do with Danes. They’re a German Breed. π
My 2 chihuahuas treed a 150# bear in my neighbors yard just last week. The bear wisely retreated.
Maybe they were just really tall pit bulls
25 GREAT DANES????? WTF???
