On a related note, on reason Free Republic works so well and loads so fast is because it's not bogged down with a bunch of features. Can't delete posts. Can't edit posts. Can't block people.

I've been here long enough to remember when a "like" feature was implemented for a few months back in 2001. IIRC, I believe it was a thumb's up similar to what Facebook has.

It didn't last long at all.

I don’t believe I did. A block button is fine. It is used to stop legitimate harassment and other harmful content on several other websites. Stomping your feet and saying you don’t want to see other people’s legitimate opinions is a horse of a different color, and very weak.

Good point, I'm certainly willing to contribute more then I already do for this feature. Maybe JR could charge extra to make this feature available on a user by user bases. I like it!
