Trump stokes fears with ‘unconstitutional’ Harris talk
The Hill ^ | 8/10/24 | Brett Samuels

Former President Trump is setting off alarms among critics as he pushes the claim that Vice President Harris’s ascent to become the Democratic nominee is somehow unconstitutional, with some warning he could be laying the groundwork to contest an electoral defeat as he did in 2020.

Trump has repeatedly sought to cast Harris replacing President Biden as the Democratic nominee as nefarious, likening it to a “coup” and in recent days claiming it may be unconstitutional because she was not atop the ballot in the primary process.

Biden and other Democrats, as well as some Republican Trump critics, have suggested the former president’s rhetoric is intended to cast doubt on November’s results should Harris prevail.

“We know one thing for sure. Trump never loses. And so if he’s not the winner of 2024 as in 2020, it must be because he was treated unfairly, yet again,” former Trump national security adviser John Bolton said on CNN.

“This is why people need to start thinking more now about how to deny Trump the ability the day after the election, if he loses, to try and throw the process into chaos again,” Bolton added.

Biden announced July 21 he would not seek reelection. Democrats quickly rallied behind Harris, who this week was officially certified as the party’s nominee following delegate voting.

Trump, who was leading Biden in the polls and appeared on track for victory in November, has repeatedly said the president was forced out and called it a “coup.” More recently, he has questioned whether Democrats replacing Biden with Harris somehow violated the Constitution, particularly after recent polls show Harris closing in on him.

Exactly right!, huge mistake, with MSM against Trump he only gets so many opportunities to make an impression, and this sort of speculation (or the name calling) hurts his chances with independents and women, to use an analolgy it's like in basketball, most smart coaches know you only get so many shots on offense, you want good shots not poor half court shots

Less than 0.1% of USA Population shows up at rallies. You can do the math. How many rallies Trump did during 2020 run?

The 2024 Florida Statutes

Title IX
ELECTORS AND ELECTIONS
Chapter 103
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS; POLITICAL PARTIES; EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES AND MEMBERS
103.101 Presidential preference primary.—
(1) Each political party other than a minor political party shall, at the presidential preference primary, elect one person to be the party’s candidate for nomination for President of the United States or select delegates to the party’s national nominating convention, as provided by party rule. The presidential preference primary shall be held on the third Tuesday in March of each presidential election year. Any party rule directing the vote of delegates at a national nominating convention shall reasonably reflect the results of the presidential preference primary, if one is held.

Note the last sentence and “at a national nominating convention”. They got around that by voting ahead of the convention.

Harris wants to hide and run out the clock while Trump will get very little traction outside of the real issues being pounded. The Democrat voters don’t care about anything about attacks nomatter how true outside real issues.

She is dumping all sorts of unconstitutional things onto her platform.
Trump will have much more to discuss in the coming months than just her right to the nomination.
This particular point is an attempt to make some democrats feel disenfranchised by having voted in a betrayal of trust during the primary.

I don’t get the claim Harris is hiding out. Seems to me she is on my TV every dang day doing a rally.

But I wonder, how many people are tuning into a rally when the Olympics are going on?

She says the same thing every time. Yes, yes, I know, message discipline and stump speech. Point is, are people watching the rally coverage of the same speech given, day after day?

Dems want to win. Most know Biden had a snowballs chance in hell. Trump’s people have to be writing the ad scripts, gathering the vids and film, and planning when and where to unleash them. Meanwhile Trumpp should pick one Harris proposal and one Biden failure a day and make those his talking points.

I am a little concerned, there are lots of reports out that the Trump campaign is having problems internally. It could be false news or fake insider garbage, but there are enough claims to make me worried. Trump and Vance need to stay on the economy, borders, and cultural rot.

They need to get back on message.

People at rallies already know how they are voting. Rallies do not equate to new votes. But she does have some wind behind her, Trump and Vance are too quiet right now.

You are exactly correct he needs to get back on message.

Another problem I think is that his family is running the RNC/ campaign.

He needs a new Manafort.

I think Trump was pointing out that Dems were happy to run Biden until polls showed he’d lose. It is good to remind voters that Dems are dishonest and untrustworthy. Trump should continue to attack along that theme. Just like we need more cowbell, we need more Trump. Let Trump be Trump.

He can do both.

Thread winner. And he IS doing both. The bed wetting pearl clutchers are out in full force on this thread. He is relentlessly winning. Putting them on defense. Outing their corrupt, incompetent and evil ways for anyone who has a hint of rationality to see.
