Matt Gaetz reposted Kyle Rittenhouse @ThisIsKyleR Over the past 12 hours, I've had a series of productive conversations with members of the Trump's team and I am confident he will be the strong ally gun owners need to defend our Second Amendment rights.
My comments made last night were ill-informed and unproductive. I'm 100% behind Donald Trump and encourage every gun owner to join me in helping send him back to the White House. 3:46 PM · Aug 2, 2024 · 4.7M Views

Maybe the kid will learn to do his homework first next time.

He's a kid. People are going to try to manipulate his celebrity for their own purposes.
At least he's not helping Pat Boone and Dick Morris sell gold and freeze dried food.
President Trump should make Kyle head of the ATF. Liberal heads would spin nto orbit.

Rittenhouse of course has the right to say anything he wishes. But he’s not some grand old sage. He’s only 21. Some people just need to fade into the background and get on with their lives. Rittenhouse is one of them.

Several of you have pointed out the obvious and made an appropriate response.
He’s young and thrust into the public spotlight unprepared.
I would give him some slack. It’s a tough circumstance he’s in with many hoping to use or destroy him.

Americans are a tremendously understanding and forgiving people for those who apologize and declare they will try to do better. And that is a good thing.

Like it or not, Kyle will never be able to fade into the background. The media machine and the execrable DA in Kenosha saw to that.

Let’s be honest, Trump doesn’t know enough about guns to know whether anything he’s proposing/supporting is actually good for 2A/RKBA or bad for it. The UNCONSTITUTIONAL bump-fire sock ban and the dumbass cracks about banning suppressors are proof of that.
It’s better for gun rights if he just shuts up, sits in the corner, and does whatever Lauren Boebert or MTG tells him.
Unfortunately, that’s not his style. He never met a sound bite he didn’t like and as a consequence he goes off half-cocked more than Don Lemon.

I certainly understand your point. But I never said he was a kid. I said he was not a grand old sage. Some young people have seen a lot, and know a lot. But few of them have the deep wisdom that only comes with time. That’s my point.

The young man was misled by someone who had great influence on him. I am glad that he seems to have been straightened out and is honest enough to admit he was wrong.
