JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Councilman Kenneth Stokes was joined by many in the community for a protest on Sunday against the Texaco gas station on Medgar Evers Boulevard after the recent homicides and crime in the area.
He says he will be bringing up a vote of no confidence against the city’s legal department and director for not declaring the gas station a nuisance and shutting it down before now.
“Where people suffer harm or injury, it’s got to be considered a nuisance. How many people have to die here before they realize it’s harmful?” Councilman Stokes said.
The most recent homicide happened earlier this month when 23-year-old Jacobi Austin was shot and killed in front of the gas station

Ain’t dat duh truef.
“on Medgar Evers Boulevard”
Gee.
I wonder what could be?
Because that’s what Marxists do…blame the business, hard working people as an excuse to kill the free market and freedom of choice.
I thought the same as you….Marxist move onto the next “for the children” BS while we’re still fighting arguments from 10 years ago.
2025
Section 8 Apartments declared nuisance by city.
Race baiter Stokes.

So it’s the gas station’s fault? WTF.
The owner should just pack up and leave out of spite.
Medgar Evers Boulevard.
Somehow I think the gas station isn’t the main problem.
But a lot of these people no doubt wanted police levels and enforcement reduced.
Well. Now they will have a “gasoline desert”.
Gas station closes because black people kill each other there
followed by complaints of “we ain’t got any resources!”
followed by leftist race-baiting and political pandering
followed by $trillions filtered the the Fed.gov/democrat race-grievance apparatus.
Me too. The idea is just bizarre.
Are the gas pumps attacking people?
And after the gas station is gone, the next homicide will happen in front of the vacant lot that was once a gas station.
I stayed in Jackson for a couple of nights. There is a railroad track, AMTRAK, I think, that runs through town. Best to NOT cross those tracks after dark. The hotel security guy told us that.
Maybe if it was converted to a charging station the violence would stop?
We stopped for lunch at a Wendy’s but decided the neighborhood was far too sketchy, so we left. That very night at 11:30pm, a white girl was shot in the head by a black guy at that intersection at Wendy’s.
“ The violence will just move someplace else in the vicinity.”
…yes. Most Americans are really too stupid to realize this. Instead of dealing with the criminals, they just shuffle them around.
In my town, “yutes” were knocking over mail boxes at the PO and stealing the mail. Instead of arresting anyone, they took out the boxes. Older people go to the PO for everything. I see them hobbling out of their cars to go inside now.
Liberals have NO clue about cause & effect relationships.
The stupid, it hurts.
I went back and watched the linked video, and not once did any of the aggrieved mention WHO was actually killing people in the community.
The reporter, ostensibly to provide neutral reporting, never challenges the protesters, e.g., “Who is actually doing the shooting? Is it store employees?.”
These are really dense people. A sad reminder of the decline in our country, our schools, our cultural expectations as Americans, and of our public institutions (school, police, justice, government, and even churches).
“If you watch the video, the first idiot they interview is saying we want to be safe when we go into these stores….if you shut down the store there is no store to go into.”
I once worked for a fortune 100 company and in a server test lab we had a big red button that said emergency power shutoff. One day we got notification that it was going to be removed.
When I asked why I was told that it had been determined that there was a small percentage chance you could hit the button and it would fail to cut off power, and the lawyers recommended that it be removed altogether so that if it failed no one could get sued.
(I still have big red button)
Another case of... ‘it’s the fault of global warming’.
