The 1993 film In the Line of Fire was about a Secret Service agent, Horrigan, played by Clint Eastwood, who was on the job when JFK was killed.
That the Secret Service did not save him has haunted him for years.
SNIP
That was a movie. On July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, they did not function at all.
It is very difficult to believe that this once-esteemed, highly trained, and truly courageous institution could fail as badly as it did that day when an assassin took aim at President Trump at a rally.
The shooter was observed more than an hour before he fired, but no one questioned him, seen after he was seen using a range finder. On that day, everyone dropped the ball. They were all careless and unprofessional. No one seemed to be in charge. Kimberly Cheatle, the then-Chief of the SS, certainly was not, and, to date, whoever was in charge has not been named. Does he or she still have a job?
The internet is overflowing with countless theories. That is what happens when the government is so unforthcoming, so secretive, not transparent. There are questions but few answers, and some of their answers are ridiculous. How many shooters? One, two or three? From what locations did the shots come from? How many shots? What happened to the shell casings that were on the roof, and then they were not? According to the bodycam videos that have been released, there was no marking of the location of those shell casings that were on the roof of the AGR building. Why was the shooter’s gun lying about eight feet from his body when the law enforcement (local? SS? ATF? FBI?) made it to the roof?

The first LEO on the roof would have kicked the gun away from the shooter’s body because they are not certain he is dead. That would be standard procedure. The number of casings is a different story. One of the LEO that was on the roof had a helmet cam and was recorded counting five casings. I never saw video with numbered markers next to the casings, which would be standard procedure to document the scene. Then the casings were piled next to the body and there were supposed to be eight casings.
Butler was not incompetence. It was willful, plotted neglect for which executions and military tribunals are way overdue.
> They were all careless and unprofessional. <
The public will never know exactly what happened on that day. We simply won’t be told. But one thing is for sure: The problem is not limited to just the agents who were present.
A fish rots from the head down.
A witness drove through the scene later (next day? Can’t recall) and there was no crime tape, no ballistics analysis, no evidence whatsoever that it was an official crime scene under investigation.
We also need facts regarding the blood found in the bathroom and witness statements re radio traffic concerning ‘2nd shooter’ or POI.
Re casings: That video was a 3-second count of what was visible in a quick scan. Correct that there is no evidence of tagging casings in the atypical, flagged manner, as though official procedure was ordered to be disregarded. If the PSP head who stated ‘8 casings’ was told that by USSS and not by his own crew, he needs to come forward with that information or he’s complicit.
The author writes ‘fail’; my interpretation of the evidence is that whatever command decisions were made - from area assignments to implementation to communications day-of - this scene was NOT a ‘protection fail’ but, rather, evidence of execution of planning.
We STILL don’t have any testimony or communications logs from the command center/trailer.
We won’t get answers. The “investigation” will be dragged out until it’s “old news”, and then people who will still ask about it will be labeled conspiracy nuts.
Cannot agree more, which is why I'm convinced that they'll either bring in the 'A' team between now & Nov (or, for that matter, any time beyond now past the election), or something much more sinister representing their desperation will now be in play, and with what I'm reading of vance, not necessarily before the election.
> We won’t get answers. <
Right. Congress will convene a committee to investigate the shooting. The job of that committee will be to keep everyone calm, and in the dark. So eventually a report will be issued. It will be weak and inconclusive, and take about a year.
That only question is how Trump will respond if he’s back in the White House.
The thugs and goons of the permanent bureaucracy that has become the Secret Service management have done everything except post on ‘X’ that, “Yes, we did it. And we’re REALLY sorry we missed.”
The new SS boss, Ronald Rowe, Jr., is the same as the old SS boss - a bureaucrat’s bureaucrat. Especially when taken in concert with FBI thug, Chris Wray, and Homeland Security’s Mayorkas and DoJ’s Garland. President Trump can’t trust any of them.
I heard that there were statements that radio traffic was not recorded so there are no records. It also sounds like local LEO and SS had no interoperable coms.
It looked to me like they held Trump up for a minute to allow for a second shot. It looked very strange. I would have thought they would have shuffled him out of there low to the ground in a split second. You know, like how they chucked Hillary in to a van when she passed out. No, this was not a “lone wolf” assassin, this was derp state, I mean Deep State. There would appear to be little doubt at this point.
Correct, but SOP is to have a command center/trailer.
Someone was coordinating between the 3 local/state LEO orgs and USSS.
‘Someone’ was SAC on-scene.
‘Someone’ was making decisions, and yet we still have no name, no testimony.
The whole thing now stinks of wetwork, and though execution thereof appears crafted to have intended to lay blame upon 2 or more patsies with supporting handlers (shooters), the perceived effort to ‘deprofessionalize’ the operation now - in the wake of its failure - has the appearance of ‘with intent’.
IMHO it is very, very strange that no one has followed up on that gun club. The plot eerily stinks of Jack Reacher.
I thought the narrative was most of the detail were untrained HSI ppl. Are they now SS too.
Oh, that the Secret Service was still that type of organization.
A pundit the other day opined that the SS slide started when they were moved from under Treasury to Homeland.
There seems to be a news blackout now so no confirmation. But SS is in DHS so I am not sure there is much distinction anymore.
I agree, there should be a command center and all comms should go through a repeater where it is recorded.
Convenient, huh?
I thought HSI was investigative vs close protect - totally different training and skill set.
Another aspect which bothers me:
The family. Sans a lone picture of the father coming out of a grocery store, it contrasts distinctly with ANY other scenario where a firearm owned by someone else - in this case, a dreaded ‘assault weapon’ - was used in a shooting.
And not just in any shooting, but a nearly successful assassination rivaled only by the JFK plot (thus far, though that jury is still OUT).
Under any other scenario the media would be HOUNDING the family, and the media would be using their talking points about the weapon used.
Crickets.
In addition to the on-scene SAC and/or any other liaison/commander, someone in DC is coordinating damage control on a national level, in conjunction with the narrative ‘lone gunman’, ‘8 shell casings’ and ‘sloped roof Cheatle fall gal’.
Even MTG isn’t asking that question...
IMHO Crooks could have been groomed by some 3 letter agency.
Every wonder why we’re still waiting on the JFK files?
