Dramatic footage has emerged from inside El Salvador's mega-prison for gang members showing its concrete confinement cell and impenetrable security.
The Centre for the Confinement of Terrorism (CECOT) in Tecoluca is home to 40,000 of the world's most dangerous men who will never be released - each one with at least one homicide conviction.
And now YouTuber Nick Shirley has offered one of the most in-depth looks at the prison's interior yet.
He also takes a tour of the solitary confinement chamber, a narrow cell comprising only a raised concrete platform used as a bed alongside a rudimentary toilet basin.
There is no mattress on the bed and anyone finding themselves in a solitary is not given any sheets to slip on.
A sink is filled with cold water for inmates to wash on - and natural light comes from a small round hole drilled into the thick concrete ceiling.
Shirley also offered the first glance at steps prison workers have taken to tamp down any riots. An enormous room filled with scores of assault rifles sits within the prison, waiting to be deployed in the event of any future unrest.
Footage from the inside shows topless and heavily tattooed inmates lined up under the watchful eye of heavily-armed guards at the institution which has been a key part of a concerted effort to drive down El Salvador's murder rate.
The number of homicides in the Central America nation dropped 70 percent last year as authorities under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele cracked down on criminals both inside and outside the jail.

I read through hundreds of the comments, from UK, US and Australia. Only one complaint. Virtually every other comment ranged from “ok with this” to “we need this here, now”. There were also lots of comments that these types are being sent to the US over Biden/Harris’s open border.
It's the DailyMail. Notorious for ludicrous textual errors, massively long headlines, and overblown claims in the lead-ins to the stories. Copy editors? No such thing.
One of the things that opened Pandora's box in the U.S. with regard to "sex work" is that many of the purveyors were trafficked into prostitution as children. When their legitmately pitiable stories were publicized, liberals siezed on the opportunity to excoriate "the patriarchy" for shaming and imprisoning them. On down the line with having been abused in childhood, being mentally ill, many other excuses for not punishing behaviors that harm society.
Likewise with these Salvadorian gang criminals, doubtless many were groomed into this behavior from early childhood. I used to live among the Italian-American mafia, I have seen it in person. And also likewise, our feral population—many were literally born into toxic disorder and would require a Divine miracle to get straight.
Liberals want to tell us that adults out of these conditions do not have any true responsibility for their crimes. That may be some kind of a point; but the rest of us have a society to run and a country to save.
I am all in favor of effective means of therapy for non-violent offenders, if our greedy elites would only budget these enormous costs instead of meddling in foreign wars. But even the most depraved person has a soul, and in time will develop a conscience, no matter how primitive. Even dogs and cats understand not to harass another who has given a warning growl, or to steal others' food—or face violent retribution. Some will never listen to their own better angels. But some will indeed be filled with bitter regret and the wisdom of experience.
So I was glad to see that this prison was teaching the gospel to these prisoners. The souls of some may be redeemable, in time. They are marked for life with their tattoos, so that even physical escape will not result in freedom. The only door open to them is repentance that will allow them the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
“ Where I work, a tattoo is a NON-STARTER and our management is under orders to dispense with anyone with a tattoo looking for work.”
So no veteran of the US Military who has ink is welcome at your business I hope you publicize that widely so guys like me know to never give you a damned dime of our money.
Would you be so kind as to post some signs or something so those of us who put our lives on the line for you know to go somewhere else?
Thanks so much

I think all souls are “redeemable.”
Technically yes….practically no.
Sadly true.
Potentially—God loves everyone and wants no one to perish. But those who die without repentance are another matter. Some are transfixed by idolatry and sin from the devil and do not awaken in time. Hell is real:
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. —2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
Yep, too much trouble with tattoo’d guys and especially girls. Best to get them removed.
Let me know what business you’re in and where you’re located. Me and my tatted veteran buddies will be sure to let our entire community know how you feel about us.
We’ll be thrilled to spread that information around. We wouldn’t want to expose you to our money.

There’s no one left in Venezuela to do the killing or to be killed. Everyone’s fled. (Guess where!)
That is not a conscience.
That is "smack wrong, candy right".
And it is how you train animals and small children. Also remember that they have short attention spans so that the reward punishment needs to happen quickly.
A conscience is when you do the right thing not because you are going to get a reward or avoid doing the wrong thing because you will be punished but you do it simply because you know the difference and choose the right as best you can.
Once you do a violent act toward the innocent you either are repulsed and stop or you develop a taste for it and continue.
Do I think people who are repeatedly violent toward others who have done them no wrong can change?
In theory.
Do they?
Barring a genuine religious experience or a head injury, no.
Should they be locked up forever?
Yes.
They are an unacceptable risk.
Well said.
Tattoo removal is a thriving enterprise.
I thought of tattooing my E-5 stripes on, adding stripes as my Navy career moved on; however, in my present droopy old skin, I’d just feel bad at having wasted the money.
