If this had only come out sooner, I might not have had to have that painful knee replacement surgery last year. Ouch.

They work well as far as pain. I get the injections every two months, or so. I do not know if the cartilage is healed or not. I am sure losing 25 pounds has not hurt.

It would be great if this was effective for finger joint OA.

People have been doing stem cell therapy on knees for a long time, a friend of mine had it done a few times over several years and said it helped him significantly for a while each time.
I guess the only difference with this study is the source of stem cells?

Would this work if the cartilage in in an area that’s avascular...?

"It’s considered an ‘off-the-shelf’ therapy because it uses
donor, or allogeneic, stem cells
rather than the patient’s own, the surgical harvesting of which is labor-intensive. Importantly, because the treatment uses mesenchymal stem cells – adult stem cells that can differentiate into other cell types – from adipose tissue or body fat,
it doesn’t trigger an immune response."
Oh? Foreign cells aren't rejected?
In what universe?

My wife had one knee replaced 5 years ago. She had the shot in the other knee a few weeks ago. Eventually she’s going to have the other one replaced as well.

I bought a new knee brace last week that is working for me now. It is a Copper Fit natural motion knee brace. Instead of the single hinge on each side support, there is a short middle section connected with 3 hinges. It is called a tri-pivot hinge designed to follow the natural motion of the knee. I can sleep with it with no pain.
