In 1968, traveling with my family, we saw "The Last Supper" where DaVinci had painted it on the wall in Milan.
The tour guide told us that when Napoleon was invading the Italian peninsula, his troops converted the room containing the painting into a stable for their horses.
Also, the soldiers used the painting for target practice, with Jesus' face designated as the bullseye. The extensive damage was later repainted (and re-plastered I assume) after Napoleon was no longer "part of the picture" in Europe.
(Hmmm ... snipers aiming at a beloved, famous person's head .... something dejavuish about that).
So anyway, history repeats itself, as far as the French showing respect for others.
It wasn’t about DaVinci IMO......it was about DaVinci’s subject.
What’s the point? That because a bunch of soldiers hundreds of years ago acted like assh*les that sexual weirdos can give the finger to millions of Christians?
Really, is it that tacky?
I used to know an artist guy who said that Paint-by-Numbers sets disrespected it.
I think the point is that Globalists who want to take over the world (maybe Napoleon, maybe WEF or other EU people) do not have a positive view of Christianity.
If anyone depicted homosexuals as mentally ill, the fags would go nuts.
The 'elites' have enough money to take out ads pushing sexual kinks AND pushing expressions of hatred for Christians. Why ruin the games?
I fall back on the quote from the 19th century anarchist Mikhail Bakunin — “The destructive urge is also a creative urge.”
These people have a vague sense that they need to build a new world. A better world. They may not have a picture of that, they may not know what they want. This does not bother them. They just know that they will create a world that is better than this world. The specifics can wait — because the actual creation of a better world is Part 2. They will figure that stuff out later.
Part 1 is what they are focused on right now — and that is the destructive urge. All aspects of western civilization, everything built by the Judaeo-Christian worldview must be destroyed. Faith, Beauty, the Family, Morality — all of that must be broken and destroyed as the first step in their eventual urge to create something better.
But they are barbarians. They are Vandals. The fact that Rome wasn’t built in a day does not disturb them. They are focused on destroying a great civilization and they do not see that they are creating a Dark Age.
And note — I certainly do not see these fools as any sort of intellectuals who have studied the works of people like Mikhail Bakunin. Far from it. They have no idea what they are doing. But I think this is an out-pouring of a deep darkness inherent in humans. It is an urge to destroy and it is justified by a vague feeling that they are building something.
Large disparity in skills - - what it takes to build a home - from creation of the ideas and architecture to an actual door that leads into a room. On the other side - the simplicity of an idiot taking out a match, a little kindling, a gallon of gasoline and burning the place down.
One takes skill, discipline, long term thinking, knowledge, strengths, and patience. The other can be done by a psychopathic seven year old.
After destruction there isn’t a ‘new and different’ there’s just destruction.
They didn't disrespect it because it was painted by DaVinci. They disrespected it because of the central figure in the painting.
From the French Revolution until today, nothing has changed wrt the French elite's contempt for Christ.
