We all know relationships can be complicated, but few are quite as complicated as the one between Apple and Google. Cue Apple’s creepy new attack ad on Google—with a clear message for its 1.4 billion users—stop using Chrome on your iPhone.
So, why now? Google is on a mission to convert Safari users to Chrome. It currently relies on Safari to drive most search requests from iPhones—enabled by a financial arrangement between itself and Apple, whereby Google search is the default on Safari. But that arrangement could soon be curtailed by monopoly investigations in the US and Europe. And so Google is advancing Plan B.
Chrome only has a 30% install base across iPhone users—Google’s target is to increase this to 50%, bringing another 300 million iPhone users inside its data tent. Apple obviously wants to stop this happening. Those 300 million pairs of eyeballs generate serious online revenue, and as search changes through the introduction of on-device AI, it will become a retention versus conversion battleground.

I use the Brave browser on my iPhone and brave.com search engine.
DDG is the second choice for search.
I avoid all things Google and Microsoft whenever possible
You don’t want to use Chrome, period. You don’t want to use Edge either for the same reasons (privacy and security).
I only have a desktop and use chrome...just because...Do I need to be concerned?
Jeez, installing Chrome kind of defeats the purpose (i.e., avoiding Google and Microsoft) of using Apple iPhones for their strict privacy features.
The other day I took a pic and used it to do a google search - I got a message from google that I am using a lot of searches and did I mean to do that.
Going to Brave.com from now on.
I’d switch to Brave, which is built on top of the core Chrome web browser engine but has lots of privacy features and doesn’t send all your browsing info back to Google.
It also has a built-in ad blocker.
So is there really a difference between the Google and Chrome search apps?
BTW, I use Brave browser and search on my laptop. Much better than Chrome.

I’ve been a happy iphone user for years and I avoid all things Apple. That said - I still use Safari.
Brave makes YouTube usable
Without brave yt is horrible
Just use Brave.
I use it on desktop, laptop and 2 android phones. Besides superior security, it makes the web a much more pleasant place. Or at least somewhat less irritating.
I have Brave, DuckDuckGo, Qwant, and TOR on my iPhone.
I find that Brave isn't very good at image searches. I prefer DuckDuckGo for images.
I use libra office and brave.
Brave and Comodo Dragon are both Chrome based browsers. There are others.
That would explain it. I’ve used Brave for years, and lately have been watching a lot of stuff on YT. And I kept wondering because I would see references to ads, but never actually get any.
Quite a few posts and no mention of Firefox?
I use both Firefox and Chrome.
But I probably use Firefox more because pages load faster.
I use Safari on my crap iPhone, and that’s very rarely. We had a tornado take out our power and internet service this past Tuesday. Was without internet until yesterday morning. While it was out, I used Safari via Verizon LTE sparingly on my phone to check FR and The Liberty Daily. I only had two bars until the internet returned, so access to anything was slim to none.
The CEO of Firefox is a crazed Marxist, who hates Trump.
