I see the irony meter is broke on this one.
The statue was that of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and excess

News media spends a lot of time trying to come up with negative stories about Italy tourism.

The woman was seen mimicking rude and insulting intimate behavior and acts, probably in the belief that these would spark humor. "AhHAhahaaa. Watch as I spark humor by mimicking rude and insulting intimate behavior and acts."
If she is spanked, she will behave better.

Can she be charged with statutory rape?

Maybe if Bacchus had worn a modest toga instead of waving around what Jupiter gave him.

I don't get the outrage. I mean, she had pants on!
Now if she did that butt-nekkid, maybe we'd have a problem....

If she had been American, that would have led the story and been mentioned several times in each paragraph.

Oh, being a unesco site is nothing to be proud of. Unless somebody likes ceding control of the property to the useless u.n. overseers.

A tourist in Florence, Italy has sparked outrage and criticism recently after she was filmed simulating an insulting sexual act with a Roman statue. The statue isn't Roman. It was created by Jehan Boulongne, aka Giovanni da Bologna or Giambologna, a Dutch sculptor transplanted to Tuscany in the sixteenth century.

Bacchus would wholeheartedly approve.

Somehow that seems appropriate behavior with a statue of the Roman god of excess. The celebrants of Bacchus’s rituals were primarily women, I believe.

If she’s unidentified, how do they know she’s a tourist? She could be a local resident who decided to goof off.
To: nickcarraway
She could claim she’s BLM/Antifa and just be happy she didn’t tear the statue down.

Had a sailor from the USS Coral Sea piss on a statue of Ataturk in Turkey . A mob chased him and beat him, he had to take refuge at a police station, he was thrown into prison. Reagan had to call the president of Turkey. A large amount of US dollars was paid. The kid got Admirals mast and was flown back to the states to start his prison sentence.
